Havent been out myself but looking out of the window there's snow on all the hills and higher ground around the Ballybofey area. At lower levels where I am we are getting hail and light snow showers hourly but they arent prolonged. It lies for 10 minutes but then its gone. But the forecast is for more persistent and heavier showers later in the day.

However from listening to the local radio station it seems other parts of Donegal are getting a fair bit of the auld white stuff with reports of a couple of cars having gone off the road etc. A couple of parts of Inishowen (NE Donegal) have lost power too it seems

i was talki9ng to an auld fella recently in the northwest and he predicted that we were in for some snow. He was saying the Curlews were in lower down fields than usual so that was a sure sign that a cold snap was on the way. Mother nature really is the only baramoter for predicting weather I feel...

i would agree to a point, but i think people predicting snow weeks/months in advance is malarkey. i picked up some pointers from my father for weather signs etc but they would be mainly on a daily basis type of thing. no one can predict the weather weeks in advance. thats my opinion.

Good heavy flurry in Galway city now.

I'm starting to think the whole thing is a lost cause. Blue sky's here east Galway not a flake all morning when it was predicted for 8-10 am. Every time there's hype about snow it never happens. The best snow events are the ones we least expect.

It looks like on the radar that the front in the south is in the process of dying out.

Snow has just started to fall here in wexford beside the blackstairs.
We are still just on the dividing line between the warm air and the cold air.
Meanwhile the low pressure is still on it's march south.
Satellite pic attached shows the boundary line of warm and cold air on the boundary of wexford also the low and precipitation associated on it's march south for later today.

Come back in about 12 hours and might be more appropriate!
