Really miserable out, the ground is wet and sleet and hail falling, even if proper snow does come I can't see it sticking

Ground wet here too. Is it sticking to the grass?

While I was out in the car just now in Bray, I could see that Kippure had a bit of a dusting as did some of the hills to the south of it, but not much. Otherwise 4 deg, sunshine and blue skies here in Bray!

Think band-A is breaking up a little, still would be unlucky not to see a few 15mins worth of showers around N.Dublin
band-B looks a bit better maybe heading S.Dublin or Wicklow direction, then there's always band-C...

How long before we're depending on band Z ;)

Why was the winter thread closed?

Today was the first day all winter that we have struggled here in southern Poland. Horizontal snow all day apart from a few hours rest bite.

Today is actually the warmest day (-5) for many weeks, but it has brought with it the thick heavy snow.

My work place closed today at lunchtime because of the onslaught of snow so I returned home only to find that I couldn't actually get home.

My car is parked up 1.5km away but tractor access is still accessible ......just!

The tractor has been in constant use, but I'm afraid its just a time waste trying to keep access open.

Cos apparently, the only valid discussion is about the live "event" in Ireland (which covers current conditions) or technical discussion of the models, on the model thread.

Not sure where non tech discussion of pattern evolution or trends is supposed to go at the moment.

3° in Glencullen, D18 right now with a DP of -2°. Blue skies ATM with the sun near ready to drop. Ground is bone dry. It's not looking great ATM but if there's any amount of fall at least it will stick.

The nice covering we had this morning has melted away due to sun earlier on. There's a few good snow showers passing through but it's now too wet to lie :(. I hope when darkness comes it might help the situation. (Dungiven, Co. Derry).

Because people/posters are not always as disciplined as you might be you can end up with two, or three or four threads with the 'event' posts.

    It gets very messy!
