It's no business of that driver if people are coming back on the bus later in the evening or not. His job is to drive the bus. Nothing wrong with elderly people using their free travel pass to get out and about for themselves while they can.

If you want to get Dublin to Galway by bus you would want to be a fool to take Bus Eireann, takes much longer compared to the private operators who are also cheaper.

People are likely to apply for more passes now seeing as Joe has the topic up in the air and risks the system being overhauled.

I heard laughter in the background at Joe's suggestion.

the family of employees do not get free travel, the rail workers (current) get those limited tickets per year too as far as i know. they are strict on them now a days too, because of the barriers at either side of the journeys, not human ticket checkers any more

If the Government clamps dow non this Joe will be laying into them for attacking "de vulnerable"., which will give him a chance to sit on the other side of the fence and play to that particular gallery.

No such thing as a free lunch. He's obviously never heard of the heavily subsidised RTE canteen.

If you had bought a ticket for the train and had reserved a seat and spotted junkies sitting in your reserved seat with their free passes you would feel a tad angry so to speak.

Or if Trump mentions the outrageous salaries of media people.

As far as I know the new type are scanned and recorded, not sure on the old type.

By private operators? I dont think so, so it seems you get a flat fee per operator?

A bog off; you can't refuse boarding to someone who smells of hash. The syringist may have been diabetic for all you know.

Wonder does he turn away everyone who smells of drink? The buses would be fairly empty if he did.

No only CIE companies have them, the others keep some manual record or estimate.
