I dont know exactly how it works in other places, but in my town we have two main private bus companies. One does not accept Travel passes at all and when i travel on the other one, the driver gives a docket where I have to fill in my name,PPS Number, date, etc., and my destination. I assume these are submitted to the Department for re-imbursement.

Local TD Peter Fitzpatrick has received assurances from the Minister for Social Protection, Leo Varadkar, that there is no proposal to introduce a charge on the free travel pass for elderly people.

However, Deputy Fitzpatrick said that the Fine Gael Government had no plans to introduce such a charge and released a statement today to put those who avail of it at ease about the situation.
