Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm not 100% sure on this but isn't the pre-clearance area of the airport technically US land (in the same way an embassy is)?

Therefore, sorry Ms. Zapone, it's none of your f*cking business nor that of the Irish Govt. either.

Farcy had a a nice dig last week on Friday, basically saying amercians are ignorant. Again if he said that all muslims were stuck in the 14th century and treated their woman like animals he would have been sacked.

Probably, but she'll be ENTITLED to 2 pensions for her few years service to the state:

    A TD's pension AND a Ministers pension.

Best small country in the world to be a politician.

Am I reading that correctly? A National Radio programme is going to cover the closure of a local gym? There must have been a lot of RTE Staff that were members for that to be deemed newsworthy.

are you implying that they wouldn't give equal weight to the closure of a gym in Clones or Lahinch, caller?

She was a lecturer in Trinity and served a full term in the Seanad so how many pensions would she be entitled to?

4 then caller, or 5 if you include the measly state pension so to speak.

She'll be ahead of Ivan Yates then (I've spoken on this in other fora so to speak). The vast majority of people I speak to on Yates seem oblivious to the fact he's on 2 full pensions (TD & Ministerial), and has been since he was 50. And yet he seems to have a degree of sympathy others don't get, despite the shockingly arrogant (in my opinion) position on those pensions he holds - he uses the word "entitled" when discussing them more than the average caller to De Lahv Lahn.

He's also (a la de Duffmeister) skilled at tax avoidance, utilising the 1 man company loophole to ensure he pays corporation tax and not PAYE like the majority of the rest of us, and has written a buke to qualify for de artists exemption too. When I hear people champion him for "stiffing it to the banks" (as it was recently put to me), I always ask these people do they realise that ultimately we as taxpayers paid for Yates' debts I'm most often greeted with a variety of responses. Most recently I was greeted with a barrage of abuse telling me I was a "begrudger".

I don't mind Yates as a presenter, he's obviously intelligent, clever and smart in ways Duffy could never be; but he can be quite sensationalist and often plays to the gallery unnecessarily, and there's a little bit of a bully in him at times. He's had his difficulties sure but he has twice in recent years taken year long sabbaticals and swanned back into a high-paying role in newstalk courtesy of one DO'B. Not many in his position would be as lucky.

Yet he has this overwhelmingly positive perception about him i just can't fathom.

    Discuss.

I did ask de question when I did already know de answer so to speak.

The OH is a Prod. I'll bring this theory up with her.

It kinda reminds me of when Joe puts on de posh voyis when he does be taking to Sasanachs or Doctors so to speak; that Catalick/Oirish inferiority complex shines through and dat.

Well at least we know wat colour de car is now, seeing as Horatijoe forgot to record the details as part of his investigation yesterday. Amateur. Deegan from last week would asked that question.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,028 ✭✭✭✭ButtersSuki

In the PC Praise be to Allah wurild dat Joe inhabits, this conversation will likely take place one day:

Joe: wat colour was de car?
    Caller: black Joe.
Joe: YOU CAN'T SAY DAT! YOU CAN'T SAY DAT! It's African American caller.

well at least we can see the young lad had put time , effort and money into his car. pointless getting insurance money for it, as the insurance company would value it at next to nothing. can see how this would be devastating for the lad

I feel bad for the young fella but even starting to negotiate with those scumbags was a mistake.

What I'd like to know is why they didn't tell the Gardai where the car was when they knew this info. If the Gardai did know this (this wasn't obvious from the call yesterday) then what the hell are they being paid for if they can't go into Southhill and repossess the car?

I assume they know full well who stole this car and who burnt it, yet it's likely no charges will be brought in this case.

Joe lambasted the toerags on yesterday's show, no doubt in a few weeks he'll be saying de poor Childers never had a chance.

And where was Willie O'Dea and Niall Collins when this was going down? Were they not available to "negotiate" the release of the car? Or were they too busy rehearsing cliches?

I was fascinated watching the six one news last night and listening to Inda saying that he was going to tell the "Donald" how wrong the USA are in banning Muslims etc.
I'm sure that this will ruin Donalds plans for a good knees up on Paddy's day!! NOT :rolleyes:
