Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It would kind of difficult to communicate through a swimming pool.

    "Burble, gloop?"

    "Glloppyy burcblry!"

    "Braccleky grolupyp?"

    https://www.legal-island.ie/articles/ire/case-law/2012/july/eleanor-merriman-v-edenderry-swimming-pool-limited-2012/

Eleanor Merriman v Edenderry Swimming Pool Limited [2012]

    Case Reference
    DEC-E2012-051
    Legal Body
    Equality Tribunal
    Type of Claim / Jurisdiction
    Unfair Dismissal, Discrimination and Equality

Issues covered: Employment Equality Acts; Discriminatory Dismissal; Gender; Family Status; Maternity Leave; Prima Facie Case

This case involves the dismissal of the complainant on the day after her maternity leave ended and while she was still on agreed annual leave. An apparent attempt to terminate the complainant’s employment during her maternity leave was withdrawn but she refused to attend a meeting with the Board of the Swimming Pool during that time.

Although her dismissal had occurred immediately after the end of her maternity leave, the Tribunal relied on the ECJ case of Paquay v Société d'Architeches Hoet + Minne SPRL (Case C-460/06) to reverse the burden of proof against the respondent.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,691 ✭✭✭A Shaved Duck?

So they missed one payment...but why did she agree to the plan?

losing sympathy for her if she is relying purely on this income to run the house...

    Shes relying on that ....

    plus the job seekers
plus the child allowance (x4 ... for now...)
plus the rent allowance ...plus some case she probably has going for slipping on a banana skin (that one should award around €75k) ...

    poor girl is broke.

It's a tight run ship, you can't even smoke during a swim...

    Rules for Swimmers

    General

    10. Smoking is not permitted anywhere in the pool facilities.

Makes me wonder what fool decided to can her, especially immediately after maternity leave.
Seems like they were looking for a reason to let her go, before she got up the duff.

I would go straight after Duffy if I was Fergus.. Him a volunteer trying to do something for the community, and Duffy on a fortune for sitting on his h0le in RTE, casting judgment on a volunteer...
