Cynical fouls like his on Firmino should result in at least a fine. A yellow card for what he did and what many players do isn't enough IMO. It's not football.

Well Xhaka got a red for a cynical foul in his own half earlier.in the season. It's never gonna happen at Old Trafford though.

All I can take from that game is United unbeaten in 16 games.

I'd say it was a fair result, Liverpool missing four from their first 11 so pretty poor that United couldn't beat them. I guess that's why they are 6th.

Firimino reacted like a drunk in a nightclub to herrera, lucky not to see red

Terrible performance by Utd against a bad Liverpool team.

    But Liverpool were "robbed"

Poor opposition 5 points ahead of you in the league? If thats the case maybe United are in big trouble. :D

If nothing else it'll bring United back down to size a little. A complete w*nkfest lately over beating comletely awful teams save for Spurs which was a great result. Makes no sense. Mourinho has tonnes of work to do yet. Coutinho should have been risked to play the full 90.

Missed chance for Utd. Liverpool battled well but lack the quality and guile of a title winning side.

..and Liverpool haven't won a game this year. :)

Plymouth have a decent chance against this lot too.

    Fair result.

Liverpool were poor. United edged it generally, but their best chances bar the goal came from Liverpool errors.

Wijnaldum should have nightmares about those 3 incredible chances he had to get a second for us.

    Yep. Last one especially so.

Did ok when he danced around Liverpool at OT last year :D

Needed the ref again to save them at home this really is an awful utd side Alex must be rolling in his grave to see what's happened to his team.

Pusihing someone is not a red card. He got booked. Pogba headlock not even a free. Wake up

While Herrera reacted like he'd been glassed in the face. Embarrassing stuff from him to do down clutching his face like Mike Tyson had just hit him.

The lesser side which is 5pts ahead and in the top 4, United only got a draw because the officials were a joke.

That was for a kick though. Dragging back a jersey isn't exactly dangerous but still dirty and needs a harsher punishment.

A fine probably isn't going to do much either with the money players are on now.

If Liverpool are to mount a serious title challenge this season we need to be beating these mid table teams simple as that.

Typical Pogba shítposts from some in this thread. He had a mare today, it happens. "Can't believe how poor he is", "what a waste of money" from all the people who haven't watched him play a full game all season is annoying to read.

We keep them at bay, lingering in 5th

Really disappointed with that result, as a pool fan I would have taken it before the match.... but but but Wijnaldum... or even Milner's chance.. ugghhh LFC shaded the match and if either side deserved a winner it was us.

Absorbing game of ebbs and flows, 1v1s and tactics.

One yellow for United. The quality of referring really has gone to pot.

Honestly wonder how much longer Mourinho can put up with Pogba. I know he broke the bank for him but when a player is that poor eventually you have to cut your losses.

United will never be the same again. They've tried throwing money at the problem but they're still average at best. Broke the transfer record, got one of the most successful managers of the modern era, but still sit 6th. Average, average team.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,740 ✭✭✭✭MD1990

Firmino pushed Herrera in the chest. He should be embarrased holding his face but Mourinho has him well trained.

Feels like a loss for us despite missing 4 players fit enough to start in Coutinho,Mane,Matip & Clyne nearly half a team while Man Utd were full strength. Another offside goal as well bit it was a tight call in fairness.

Generally I dont watch matches in pubs (for the sake of my sanity) but heing here today, listening and speaking to others, it strikes me just how highly the opinion of these commentators/pundits/media/hype is valued. You'd swear this was the game of the century, but reality was this was 6th sgainst 5th in a league where the top teams are so clearly lagging behind the best in Europe. The real triumph today is the power of Sky's marketing machine because, as a game, that was distinctly average with few moments of real quality, and far too much route one football.

Liverpool will regret not winning that. If that's all Jose can muster then it will not be pretty viewing for the Utd faithful, hoof it up to sideshow or Ibra and hope we get a break, Big Jack at his best!!!!

I know, if all Liverpool's time wasting was added on at the end then United probably win.

Also how Firmino wasn't booked in the first half was ridiculous.

Wijnaldum's miss at the end there was nothing short of pathetic. He loves a weak shot straight at the keeper.

We were missing Bailly, Smalling and Shaw

Coutinho showed more quality on 1 minute today than Pogba did in 90 mins.
Pogba has been playing well recently but like in the Euro's he was awful today.

Having your first choice defense injured for most of the first half the league only counts if your not united

If Liverpool are to mount a serious title challenge this season we need to be beating these mid table teams simple as that.

But the problem is they ain't. Points to a lack of quality in the Liverpool side. Top 4 would be an achievement for Liverpool as they don't have the quality the other teams in the top six have.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,349 ✭✭✭✭super_furry

Mane, Matip and Clyde were all really missed - Mane in particular. Still wish someone could be brought in to offer the pace he has.

Happy with that result. 10 home games out of 17 left for Liverpool and the European football will be back in a few weeks.

    Average, average team.

If they were that average they'd be 10th.

    You're talking ****e again man.

Where did anyone give the impression this was the game of the century?

The reason the match thread is so busy and the game got so much attention is because a large amount of people in this country support either Man Utd or Liverpool.
