Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Sligeach - this one's for you.
I know you REALLY want a Switch, you love digital downloads a the idea of paying a little extra for an exclusive colour of Joycon totally butters your biscuit.
    Here :
    https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/nintendo-switch-red-edition-mario-odyssey-31499-potentially-up-to-an-extra-8-off-read-in-post-toys-r-us-using-code-2802403

Basically, you can get a whopping £5 off the Odyssey bundle with it's red joy cons and download code but that is not all, oh no that is not all : If you jump through a whole bunch of hoops, purchasing loads of gift tokens with a discounting app, you can save another £18ish. That's £23 ! Do you know how far that will go on the SouthAfrican eShop???? No you don't because you don't have a Switch.... YET! And actually, given their financial situation, there's no guarantee you'll get a Switch if you do this either. Still...

    Awesome.
We have good news! One of your pre-ordered items is now eligible for release date delivery and has been upgraded at no additional charge. Your new delivery estimate is:

    "Super Mario Odyssey (Nintendo Switch)"
Estimated arrival date: October 27 2017

Going the Parcel motel route so will probably be the 28th though

Let's just say that a forgetful Category Mod, could be anyone, has failed to preorder Super Mario Odyssey and is anxious to have the game on launch day but also wants to save some money, because he's also a miserable tightwad.
What would this hypothetical pale creature do?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,485 ✭✭✭✭Banjo

    Hang himself!

Grainger Games had it for £39.99 + delivery this morning.
I think Amazon are doing another "buy XX in gift cards and get Y" voucher offer if you haven't done one for a while - Buy £30, get £5 or something. Odyssey was £41 on there last time I looked (admittedly it was weeks ago) which would include delivery.
Saw a mention of an National Union of Students discount on either Amazon or Grainger - if you happen to be one of those (or want to order a correspondence course for £6 and call it an investment for the future) then you coudl get a tenner off.

55 in smyths on launch and whatever argos is gonna charge, they have been more expensive then smyths when it comes to switch games. I am dissapoint. They will probably be 60- 65. Im gonna be a launch day bunny and probably do smyths.

I'm tempted to forgive the letterbox gazing and simply be there on release day morning, Mario tee on, money in hand.
Plus, I'm off that day to help set up the Retro section of the PlayersXpo, so hope I've time to play!

Just spotted on Reddit that someone got a copy of Edge with the review of Super Mario Odyssey a day early.

Score spoilered for anyone that wants to hold off to read the review
    10!

  • Another masterpiece and GOTY contender from Nintendo
    BOOM!

Brilliant Stuff.... Delighted seeing early review scores...

    From elsewhere...
This month’s issue of EDGE was originally supposed to be with subscribers at this point. However, the magazine was delayed “to accommodate an exclusive embargo.” Subscribers will have the issue tomorrow, but we’re hearing that it’s already showing up in stores – and Super Mario Odyssey is apparently on the cover.

    Must get Edge tomorrow...

    I haven't even read last month's Edge!
And now I need to buy this one!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,445 ✭✭✭WeleaseWoderick

Picked up the magazine on the way to work this morning. Haven't had a chance to read it yet but can confirm that the snippet that was released on Reddit is legit.
It also says that there isn't quite as many moons to collect as korok seeds but that it's close!

I know I'm on my own here...but I don't have my hopes too high for this.

I mean I want it, i've had it preordered for months, day one for sure...

But Mario 3D World didn't grab me like it did most of yis. And this hat business...well, we'll see.

    I hope I'm wrong.

Anyone know when the review embargo lifts for this game? I adored sunshine because of its adventure element. So really looking forward to this.

Pretty sure download codes from across Europe are fine, at least that was my experience in the WiiU. Worst case scenario you change your account location temporarily or create a UK based 2nd/3rd account

Thanks Banjo. Was asking as Amazon states UK only. I'm in Texas till 8th Nov so it might block a digital download code.

Click away for the Score. 2nd good review.

That's a very late embargo by Nintendo's usual standards.

    Bewbs. 80085.

I can see there being quite a few copies of the game itself being available in stores the stock quantity of the red joycon console bundle will be few and far between. Game does look fun.

If anyone didn't see the Princess Peach wedding dress Amiibo unlocks Mario his own bridal gown costume to wear in game!
I'm sure if sligeach was around he'd appreciate what great value the amiibo thus is.

To be fair if it unlocked something 'substantial', people would complain why it wasn't in the game already etc etc. They should mostly be seen as a collectable figure which also could contain some various minimum in game content.

Anyone have any experience of pre-ordering with Smyths with home delivery? I'm hoping they'll ship the game out on Thursday for a Friday delivery but I have my doubts.

So I found a One4All voucher so I can actually afford Mario Odyssey now (was going to wait until November/December before) but only Gamestop and Argos take the voucher. I'm thinking I'll wait until Friday morning and check what Argos are going to charge for it before committing and if I'm not happy with either price, buy eShop credit in Gamestop and buy it online.

    Jazzed up now :)

Finally, come Friday, I can spend that $35 eShop card my friend gave me for my birthday back in May! I'll have to change my eShop to the USA to get it and add some more $$$$ but it will all be worth it!!

Ordered from Amazon to Parcel Motel. It says it will be delivered on the 27th so do Parcel Motel stock the lockers over the weekend or will I have to wait until the Tuesday to get it?

They stock over the weekends for certain. Not sure about the bank holiday though.

What, you mean your Moderator Boards.ie wages didn't cover the cost of the game?

It barely covers the price of my custom user title since they closed down the Resident Evil factory forum. Hard times, hard times.
