    Hi

    Using speedtest.net..

    On my Asus laptop
    I get 10gbs download and 19 upload...ethernet speed.
    I get 50gbs download and 19 upload...wifi speed.

    My wifes laptop
She gets 75gbs download and 19 upload...ethernet speed.
She gets 50gbs download and 19 upload...wifi speed.

Provider is Eir, up to 100mbps (doesn't matter I'd imagine)
I do disconnect wifi before connecting ethernet cable.

Is there any software setting in my laptop to check or is this a hardware issue?

    Thanks

I'd start with updating the drivers.

Check your ethernet settings by typing the following in a terminal window

    # ethtool eth0

    Thanks,

What am I looking for?Network driver?
Do I start in control panel or internet?

As in type cmd in start?
I tried that and it says # is not a recognised command

Are you sure of your terminology? gbs

Try swapping the ethernet cable ....... I suspect a faulty cable.

Yeah sorry, assumed you were using linux as you didn't mention the OS in your op.

If using windows I'd suggest looking at your adapter settings and set to auto speed.

    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc339518.aspx

It could also be that if your laptop is old it may only have a 10 Mb/s adapter.

This was resolved on the day by updating driver. Got locked out of boards until now.

    Thanks for all the suggestions
