    Stop

    is the shortest word with most anagrams.

    That's not really a quantifiable statement!

    RTE News bringing us the news that matters :)

    Dublin stonemasons given 14 pints of ale a day in 1565

    "It has been estimated, however, that most beer at this time would have had an alcohol strength of between 7% and 10%, if they used similar quantities of yeast as they do today."

    Spat has just as many and is just as short.

    Not to mention equally short qualifiers ; Pots, Post, Tops, Opts...

    IIRC

    Soul has the most meanings

    "air" has the most spellings "err" "ayre" ...

    The shortest letter sent was by Victor Hugh asking his publisher how the sales of his new book Les Misérables was going.

    ?

    The reply was even shorter as the book was selling well.

    !

    The shortest grammatically correct sentence in the English is I am.

    The longest sentence is of course I do.

    Maybe he should have said stop is the shortest word with the most anagrams but it goes without saying that this also counts for any anagram of stop.

    Hmm. Sounds dubious.
    In Belgium the Saison style of beer was supposedly developed for farm workers and it was a low abv beer, around 4%.

    It's not a logical English sentence though. Either it's the word with the most anagrams or the shortest word with X anagrams.

    'set' is, I think, the English word with the most meanings.

    Also more yeast does not equal more ethanol. More sugar/malt sorta does. It ferments until the sugar is gone or the alcohol gets high enough to kill the yeast

    Every set is a subset of itself.

    Leixlip is from biking words too

    Leix was a Salmon

    Lip became leap

    The place where the salmon leap
    Close. Lax is salmon. Hlup is leap. Over time Lax hlup became Leixlip

    You could also clean an i-phone in a dish washer. Doesn't mean it will work after.

    1. Put the salmon in the dishwasher for a normal cycle.

    DNA stands for the National Dyslexics Association :pac:

    RNA is like DNA except there's only one strand instead of a pair in a helix.
    Some sequences of RNA can act like enzymes and catalyse reactions. You don't need protein's and the whole DNA transcription mechanism to have self replicating molecules.

    Researchers are able to tell how bad the air was a 100 years ago by measuring museum specimens. City birds had more soot.

    The National Anthems of Wales, Brittany and Cornwall are the same. Same lyrics, same music.

    Only difference is they sing them in their own languages.

    I've done it, comes out lovely. Of course you disassemble the thing first and all you put into the dishwasher are they keys and the plastic shell. The circuit board and the contacts and wires and all that you better just dust down.

    But they give so much extra flavour! :(

    I wonder, can you wash your computer keyboard at the same time, or would it be too fishy?

    Less than 1% of the earth is water.

    If you travel south from Detroit you'll end up in Canada.

    Ireland is Europe's biggest exporter of bananas

    There are more trees on earth than stars in the milky way

    A 17 inch pizza is more pizza than two 12 inch pizzas.

    Read these today and they blew my mind a little
    One 17 inch pizza is larger than two 12 inch pizzas.

    interesting.

    a= pr2

    a = p17^2

    a = 907.92

    a= pr2

    a = 2(p12^2)

    a = 904.78

    approx. .34% bigger

    just found out. if you take big area away from small area, guess what the value is? :eek::eek:

    i bet you didnt know that.

    R squared refers to the radius....so 8.5 and 6 respectively??

    8.5 squared is 72.25
    6 squared is 36

    0.25 sqaure inches (not percent) of a difference.....with the extra amount of crust and toppings 12 inch pizzas. ....would you have more food....but less surface area??

    **I could be completely wrong though :-/
