Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I see Yoku's Island Express is finally out tomorrow. Love the look of it and I hope it gets good reviews.

I keep reading that as Yoshi's Island.

That N++ game - is it one hit and your dead?

Yep but you play levels in batches of 5 and you just restart the level you're on (you don't start over). You just lose some time.

Ok thanks. Just not sure I have the patience for that kind of trial and error game anymore (like Meat Boy), although I do like Super One More Jump.

Celeste has ruined those games for me. Such an amazing game, that anything similar to it just feels like an inferior game.

American fans of #SteamWorldDig2 - Dot and Fen are making their way with the physical edition as we speak! Expected on retail shelves across USA on June 19, 2018

The release of physical Indie games on Switch is so haphazard. A game can come out on the eShop, no idea if it'll get a physical release down the line, then months later, out of nowhere it gets a limited physical release with much of them only being in America. Taking SteamWorld Dig 2 as an example, the physical release was announced 5 months after its digital release and it'll be a full 9 month since its digital release when the cartridge version finally arrives in America.

I think it's just a combination of a few factors in the Indie "community".

No way an indie developer can commit to a certain number of units sold (unless it was a kickstarted with "physical copy" as a reward to backers) so it doesn't help them to release physical copies at all.

Once their game is out though they will get feedback from their fans and I bet a lot of times you have fans saying "love the game, would love to have a physical edition" and if they get enough messages like that then they might do a physical release.

An indie developer is in a much better position to interact with, and accommodate, the requests of their audience.

They said before about this: “We’re totally humbled by the community’s reaction to SteamWorld Dig 2. This latest SteamWorld adventure is a milestone, and we're naturally very proud of it. Many fans are now asking for a physical release, so it makes me very happy to be able to partner up with Rising Star Games for a boxed version. We’re also excited that additional exclusive items will be included as well!”

Even that tweet from Rising Star "American fans of #SteamWorldDig2 - Dot and Fen are making their way with the physical edition as we speak!". It's aimed at people who have already bought the game digitally (how else would you be a "fan" of the game?)

These physical editions are clearly meant for fans of the game who just want that as a collectors item.

@Mr E, I've been following that game and it looks very charming, it's lived up to its great first impressions. Its overall score may increase as more reviews come in. The 2 reviews below will help.

    YOKU'S ISLAND EXPRESS REVIEWS

Eurogamer haven't scored it yet, it should be high though as their review is glowing.

Nintendo-Insider haven't been included yet but they gave it 9/10.

Thanks sligeach, I've been following it for a while now, so I'm delighted that it's getting great reviews.

Eurogamer don't do scores any more. They give "Recommended" or "Essential" badges if a game deserves them. They gave this a "Recommended" which is good enough for me.

Seems to be a lengthy game too, with lots to do post-game if you want to get 100%. One review I read said that the credits rolled with under 50% completion.

Don't tempt me, I already have all of that kit here at home. I use the linx vision to play Xbox remotely in my house. Have the same Anker pack too :pac:
Only thing is that I know from the linx is that it's already hefty so all that extra gear will make it pretty weighty.

I wish so much this game wasn't turn-based

You'll get used to it :pac: I've never played a turn based game before but I'm definitely getting this.

I played the free trial. I hated the turn-based parts. I loved everything else. The problem is the turn-based parts are so many

A fallout 3 10 year anniversary remaster coming soon to everyone's favourite handheld not a console port magnet?

New Vegas please. That one seems to be the one to play (over 3 and even 4 in some corners of the web).

My son has played them all, for an obscene amount of hours, and the one he says is the best is New Vegas.
So, fingers crossed but who knows?

Kind of tempted.... but is it too much Street Fighter?

Also, the pricing in the UK seems really odd. On Amazon UK, the Switch version is +£15, compared to other platforms. Whereas on Amazon US, there's better pricing parity between platforms.

I really want to buy the SF 30th anniversary edition but I know I’ll play it for 2/3 days tops after that it’ll just sit on a shelf gathering dust

What is the Street Fighter to play for someone who has not really played fighting games?

Street Fighter 2 Turbo was the best IMO, but that’s the one I grew up on with the SNES.
