You don't alienate your retail partners by undercutting them with your digital price or you won't have retail partners for long.

Edit: Banjo beat me to it.

Digital games are as expensive to appease retailers who make the majority of their profit from software sales. However console manufacturers rely on them to stock and sell their systems so they need to provide some financial incentive for people to go and buy physical copies, basically to keep these retailers onside.

It's a weird no man's land at the minute as the console industry slowly creeps forward towards the inevitable digital only future.

Especially seeing as this game doesn't look all that great (from what I've seen so far). If previews and reviews change my mind, I'll be in there like swimwear as I loved the first game and liked the second a lot.

Thinking of 2019, all those Final Fantasy games should help buoy up the console as well. Yes they are re-releases but they are important ones. FF9 and FF12 will keep me busy for a good long time (the rest... who knows)
