Its as good as any other Yoshi game since the SNES, in the sense that it really isn't very good but hey, it looks really nice.

Was a bit of fun but the best bit was getting the missus (non gamer) playing... And enjoying it!

    It's a start!

Yoshi's Wooly World was an incredible game, one of the best on the Wii U, and anyone that thinks otherwise must be dead inside!!!

It's exactly like every other Yoshi platformer!
So, like Kirby, gameplay is utterly predictable but the visuals are wonderful.

Bill Trinen has said Bayonetta 3 will be coming 'a little sooner than maybe people have anticipated' and said it's releasing in 2019.

Nintendo World Report are reporting that Nintendo may have some form of VR in the near future, possibly sometime in 2019. Written by Emily Rogers, which gives it more credit as she's been quite accurate with news lately.

    https://www.nintendoworldreport.com/rumor/49747/could-a-vr-related-switch-announcement-be-approaching.

May be the next Labo kit perhaps.

The price isn't too bad either, £23, which is cheaper than the €30 RRP.

And you can see that KOEI Tecmo are helping to develop the game.

Can it be ordered yet? I can't seem to find it any where.

Dataminer Reveals New Modes For Tetris 99 On Nintendo Switch

Here is what OatmealDome has found so far:

“Team Battle”: Two giant teams clash. Be on the winning side”
“COM Battle”: “Battle against 98 bots. Defeat the machines!” (supports both 99 Battle and Team Battle). You can also change the CPU difficulty in COM Battle.
“Marathon”: score attack -> 200 lines or endless. It appears you can also change the starting level.

I checked all the retailers this morning, meant to say it's not available anywhere, GAME, all the European Amazons, The Hut, Zavvi, Coolshop, The Game Collection, Games 365, Nintendo's online store, Shopto, Base. Didn't check Gamestop for obvious reasons. It's not out for nearly another half a year, so it's a bit soon to be up. But then you can say it's a bit early for Nintendo to be showing it.

VR for Switch incoming via Labo product?
    https://www.vg247.com/2019/02/16/switch-vr-announcement-coming-this-year-rumor/

It wouldn't surprise me if this is resolutely a 2D application, but including headtracking.
It would make it less processor heavy and easier to implement within existing titles, essentially first person camera.
Also, as the entire screen is being used, it might mean the resolution won't be halved, which matters quite a bit on a Switch!

I think, if there is to be no 3D effect, that it'll be friendlier to children using it too, so easier to market.

    Guesswork on top of guesswork!

Could be like that 3D demo that guy did on the Wii all those years ago. But how would you head track with just cardboard? One of the joycon has an IR camera which you could put under the telly but you'd need ir emitters for your Labo Goggles. Having kids sellotape two candles to their heads would be asking for trouble.

Daemon X Machina will surely have a tie-in with the Labo Robot Kit, right?

Rumor: Nintendo reviving “dead and buried” game, Kingdom Hearts Switch talk
Game Informer senior editor Imran Khan on "dead and buried" game:

“Let me hint at something, I guess. This is a thing that I’m going to write up at some point as soon as I get some more sources on it. But there’s a game that’s thought to be dead that Nintendo’s reviving, and it’s not one that people would expect. It was very much a title that was dead and buried – very officially cancelled.”......... “heard enough about this game that I’m almost sure it exists again.”

On the possibility of Kingdom Hearts on Switch:

“Last I heard, there was a talk between Nintendo and Square Enix about what they could do with Kingdom Hearts III. It was deemed unfeasible to get Kingdom Hearts III on the Switch.” Although Switch supports Unreal Engine 4, the game is “very demanding” and “not necessarily you can put out without pairing it down a lot.” While he’s unsure if the remasters are “actively being worked on”, he believes “that’s probably where they settled on it.”

And, re: tracking with just cardboard, the tilt sensors in the controllers would do the heavy lifting there.
No need for an external sensor, just one controller mounted along the centre line and the other controller in the hand, and off you go.

Degrees of Separation is out now on Switch. From some reviews I've seen, I think it's a better co-op game than single player (for reasons that should be obvious if you look at the trailer).

Looks and sounds gorgeous though. One for my watchlist.

Each game in the trilogy offers classic tactical combat and role-playing gameplay combined with new challenges, heroes, henchmen, enemies, and environments - with all three versions playable on the Switch for the first time!

Braveland King’s Bounty and Heroes of Might & Magic. In Braveland, you start as a humble warrior's son whose village was cruelly raided - and work your way to becoming the commander of a powerful army. Hand-crafted art complements a wonderful fantasy-based story where your young hero recruits allies to aid in the cause while learning spells and battling bosses on his way to becoming the ultimate protector of the land.

Braveland Wizard adds a new twist by placing you in the role of a new graduate of the magical academy. The game adds three schools of Battle Magic, a talent tree for deeper character development, more allies to recruit to your cause, and randomly created dungeons which offer your Wizard all kinds of rare rewards!

Braveland Pirate puts you in the role of the sea-dog Captain Jim, as he embarks on a quest to find the Eternal Treasure. Hordes of undead, chests full of gold, devious pirate captains, and breathtaking adventures await you in the Free Islands. This time around, you’re equipped with a sailing ship and a hearty crew, setting sail for tropical paradises loaded with loot!

    Key features:

Three-in-one Fun: Get Braveland, Braveland Wizard, and Braveland Pirate all in one great bundle. Each game offers a unique take on your character, from magic schools to pirate tricks, there’s something special about each game in the series!

Yoshi's Crafted World: Unreal Engine 4... On A Nintendo Game?

    https://youtube.com/watch?v=w95yC7wfdUA

Digital Foundry looked at Yoshi's Crafted World more from a technical standpoint than other previews. The game runs at a near perfect 60 fps, but the resolution had to take a major hit to achieve this. As a result, it doesn't even make 720p while docked.

Yoshi’s Woolly World on Wii U ran at 720p and 60fps. I know they're different games but it's still worth noting.

John Linneman says towards the end of the video that his only real complaint is the soundtrack, he says the music is just awful. The clip he specifically chose has been in previous Yoshi games, well Yoshi’s Woolly World certainly. And speaking of that game, the music in it was fantastic, like amazingly good. I would hope that Crafted World has equally good music.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,529 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

The music playing through most of that was OK. Was that not from the game itself?

It was only when he highlighted the music (and it sounded awful during that piece) that I heard how bad it was.

The music on Yoshis New Island was absolutely horrific though.

Trine 2: Complete Story Nintendo Switch Trailer

    https://youtube.com/watch?v=K6qw9zrqn4w
Get ready to experience Trine 2: Complete Story for the first time on Nintendo Switch! Available on eShop on February 18th:

    https://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/trine-2-complete-story-switch

Seen this yesterday morning when Nintendo UK put up a page for this game, the video is embedded on their site, so there was no way of putting it directly here. But it’s of a far higher quality than Youtube. You can see it here:

    https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Games/Nintendo-Switch-download-software/Trine-2-Complete-Story-1515443.html

The game runs at 30fps and 720p in handheld mode(which is what it was on Wii U) and a bump up to 900p while docked. Reminds me of what happened with BOTW.
