XC2 comes on December 1st. That leaves the rest of the month pretty much empty of anything big except for the BOTW DLC.

I don't think there's any big games out for Xbox (bar PUBG) or PlayStation in December at all though.

It's not just a Nintendo thing.

Just as well. Xenoblade is 100+ hours if that's your thing.

From a business perspective I think Nintendo can quite happily have a quiet December and watch the systems fly off the shelves and then knuckle down again in 2018.

But very few companies release anything big in December. Sony and Microsoft aren't lighting up the release schedule either.

As mentioned earlier PUBG for the xbox is huge imo; it is easily their biggest game this year. Best selling game of the year too.
Both rely heavily on third parties the last few holidays. Cause it works better for them not to compete with them. Sony released their best exclusive stuff in the first half of the year when there wasn't big sellers releasing like FIFA out. Worked for Nintendo too as they have a lot of stock now to get more Switches in people's hands.

I think most Christmas sales are done and dusted in the first half of December, with right now being a key period.
Certainly most of the parents, like myself, have the bulk of it done now, including videogames.
While a big release at any time is welcome, from an economic point of view it'll be quiet til Spring I imagine, but maybe we'll get some delights in Jan/Feb ahead of the Switch's Birthday on March.
    We can but hope.
I must send my Joycons back, experiencing some issues there. Still haven't gotten around to it!

Think PUBG is only coming out in December because Microsoft are desperate to get it out and have some kind of exclusive for the One X 'launch window' because they've got nothing else.

So what's the thing at the top of the tree meant to be? Animal Crossing I gather?

I played one of those way back when on the GameCube. It was a bit of fun but am surprised it became apparently such a phenomenon.

Yes. It's Animal Crossing. I was assuming that it's a port of New Leaf but it doesn't have to be that, it could just as easily be a new Animal Crossing game.

Also could easily be the mobile game. It's doing well for them. 4.5 score on Google Play and 5+ million downloads at the moment and rising.

I hope it isn't the mobile game, I haven't heard hugely positive things about it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,213 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

It wouldn't and doesn't make sense for it to be a reference to the mobile game.

    Cave Story +?
I already have a physical copy of that for my Switch.

Also, not quite complete, no mention of Redout, which is imminent, allegedly.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,213 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

Cave Story +, I don't think was released physically in Europe. And Redout, is another Nicalis game so I wouldn't count on a physical European release either.

I'm not overly impressed with I Am Setsuna so far. Glad I waited for the discount.

Nothing jumping out for me on that list until March. Will definitely get Wolfenstein. Gonna use them few quiet months to catch up on some other games I've missed in the last few months.
Mario + Rabbids and a few others.

Played the demo for Nine Parchments this morning and it's fantastic fun. Had a real 'Trine' Feeling and waddya know, it's by the same developers. Anyone know when it's out? All I can find is a '2017 TBC'.

Played it there this evening. Reminded me of a less frenetic Magicka. Now that would be a great port to the switch. Never finished them on pc. But a quick pick up and go would be just the thing!

It may be the US edition but it is readily available on Amazon at least in the territories.

Slain: Back from Hell is out next week on Switch. I have it on PC - it's a great game (it was a disaster when it released, but they fixed everything afterwards)

    It'll be €19.99.

There are tonnes of games appearing on the eShop of late that I hadn't even heard announced!

Aqua Moto Racing and Snow Moto Racing look decent but I'd like a demo first.

Christ on a bike, I thought they looked dreadful.
Kind of pap that used to come out all the time of the PS3.

Has anyone played Tiny Barbarian DX? Watched a bit of it earlier and it seemed not too bad.

  • Registered Users Posts: 55,511 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

Yeah I did. I got about half way through the second episode and was distracted by something else shinier and newer. :)

Great game - hard as nails but fair. Might play it for a bit tonight in bed.

Actually you're right. I had only taken a quick glance at the video but after reading up on them, they don't have any real depth.

Ah well, let's live in hope of Wave Race/1080/Excitebike announcement!
