Hi folks,

I would really, really appreciate anyone's advice on the following.

My Windows 8 laptop has been acting very strangely recently - namely, it will not turn off properly when I try to (everything goes as normal, but the blue light around power button remains, as does the fan and general hum of computer), the same thing happens when I put it to sleep, and also the computer takes very long to start up.

This is hugely affecting how I work during the day.

Has anyone any advice? I am not very tech savvy, but have googled and tried a few things, but to no avail.
