Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I want to stick a remote to my velux window, a kmx 100 conversion kit. That's not the tricky bit. After getting a netmato thermostat thingy, I want to go one further and be able to open the velux by my phone. If it's a hot day, open the window to have the gaff a little cooler.

So am I on to something here, or am I over thinking things?

I'm sure there'd be some way to do it with a little actuator that's got a shaft coming out of it. Would probably need to be double hinged with the two distinct movements needed to open and close the Velux.

Looking at their own website it looks like they did offer a retrofit product to do this but when you click go to shop the only product they have in electrical is to open a blind or shutter as far as I can see.

Surely some decent engineering head would be able to come up with a motor for you.

Velux have motors to retro fit to their windows, I've fit a few. The switch is low voltage, possibly a lightwaverf relay 500w might do the trick on the phone

If you're up for it, I'd like to book you in for the job, when ever I get all the stuff I need. Pm me your number and I'll give you a shout when funds allow.

Thanks for the offer but I've never carried out work from boards, sorry . I fit them years ago in our old office and I was surprised at how easy they were to fit.

There are a few posts where lads are using relays to switch things like electric gates and valve's
If and when you get someone to fit them, show them the 500W lightwaverf relay, you could run it as a timer until the window shut, (I recall that the window motors had over current protection so they cut out even when you kept the button pressed)

Otherwise to replicate the action of taking your finger off the button to stop the close command (outside of a timer), lightwaverf have switched magnetic contacts (15 pounds each) I'm fairly sure can be paired to the relays (99 percent sure )

Also note that lightwaverf has a facility to create events, this is a series of switching saved as one action, these events are available in IFTTT and on the skills list for the echo. Handy for carrying out a sequence of commands with one request

AFAIK , the Harmony hub will control Velux windows .
