I have a Chrome startup page question on a new Win 7 Pro install

I have my Startup page, my Home button page and my New Tab page all set to Google.ie (www.google.ie)

Both my Home Button page and New Tab page display fine, but on startup, Chrome bitches about the page being unsecured by placing a red https warning in the address-bar (see Pic).

It's a totally clean install of both OS and Chrome and I have cleared all cookies and cache.

How can I get it to stop doing this?

Change your startup, home and new button tab addresses to https://www.google.ie.

When you attempt to access Google through any HTTP URLs, the Google DNS servers redirect you to the HTTPS URL. What are you seeing is information stating as much.

Not having any of it? When I make them all https I get the error on all 3, startup, Home & New Tab.

Is windows fully updated? You can click on the red "Not Secure" warning in the address bar and it will tell you exactly why it's not trusted.

    Yes, fully updated.

It's not trusting "https://www.google.ie" even though I have everything set to "http://www.google.ie"

I don't know if the google IE site is a secure site? I don't think it is.

Anyway, the warning\error is gone now, but how I achieved that has me even more confused. I removed all preferred entries and now have no address defined in any of the Chrome settings and the Startup page, Homepage and New tab pages are all opening Google IE warning\error free.

System time and date are correct ED (I can see how that would screw with the certificate though if it was wrong).

If you click on the "Not Secure" warning in the address bar, then click "Details", it will tell you exactly why it's not trusting it. You can then click "View Certificate" for even more detailed info. You can also do this for sites where you see the green "Secure" in the address bar, to see why it is trusting it.

Even though you've it set to "http://www.google.ie" (why trying to avoid https?), Google still redirects you to the https site. All Google search sites are https nowadays, there is no http Google search anymore.

Glad you've it sorted anyway. If you do want to find the cause and can replicate the issue I'm happy to help.
