A problem causing at least one crash that broke a rider’s back also caused a recall of $1,500 bicycles by Trek.

Trek recalled its 2015-17 720 Disc models and Bontrager Approved TLR Disc 700C 24H front and rear wheels with silver spokes over a wheel/spoke problem. Consumers paid $1,500-$1,900 for the bikes, which were on the market from November, 2014 to October, 2016. The wheels sold for $80-$90 from March 2015 to November, 2016.

Bump, just in case anyone hasn't seen this and needs to.

this is nothing to do with that recall where the quick release lever could rotate backwards into the spokes, is it?

    No, a new one.

Trek has recalled its 720 disc model, citing a dangerous brake caliper
According to the brand, the affected front brake caliper can come into contact with a broken spoke, causing hazard to the rider.
Multiple bikes are supposed to be affected, and according to the recall site there have been injuries.
The bikes have been sold since November 2014 through to October 2016.

They mostly seem to have been sold in the US and Canada, but worth checking if you're worried. It also seems to affect some Bontrager wheels.
Trek’s 720 disc models have a “lightweight aluminium frame and vibration-damping carbon fork”.
The company also says that the bicycles were sold in sizes 49 through to 61cm frames.
“The aftermarket wheels are marked Bontrager TLR on the rim and will have 24 silver spokes.”
