    Atlanta Falcons
Atlanta's reputation as a passive sports city takes another hit. Their fan rally in Houston today on the eve of the Super Bowl was called off because there wasn't enough fans attending.

People are reporting that Patriots fans outnumber Falcons fans by a massive amount in the city.

That's very disappointing, shocking as well when you consider how relatively close by they are and the fact that the city has Won so very little in any sport, and considering how flush Boston is with trophies at this stage.

See a drone was spotted over the Falcons practice. Here we go again..... spygate part 2 or dronegate.....

For those who didn't see it

    http://www.fox25boston.com/news/trending-now/someone-flew-a-drone-over-the-falcons-super-bowl-practice/490925817

It was during one of their practices at Rice University during the week.

Winning stuff gets you fans generally though. Still surprising to see it cancelled, always figured the Falcons had a pretty large catchment area and seem well marketed etc enough to have a pretty big base. Plus the city's metro area has a population of over 5.5mn.

Georgia is a college football state. Been down that way many a time and many of them could care less about the Falcons.

GamePass are showing the full US broadcast, including all the commercials. Think I'll watch it there this year - I have to admit I'm a sucker for Super Bowl commercials. Some of them are excellent.

It's hard to know how tonight will play out. But if the Brady that destroyed The unstoppable Legion of Boom back 2015 turns up, then I think The Falcons will be in trouble. On paper the Pats defense is one of the best, but I'm not convinced just yet. They haven't faced an offense like the Falcons this year and they'll have a lot of weapons to cover tonight against a top offense. So tonight we'll see if they're the real deal or not. I really wanted Brady to get his 4th ring and everything else is icing on the cake from there. Of course I want the Pats to win, but it's weird, because I wouldn't begrudge Ryan winning his first ring and it's the first Pats Superbowl that I've ever felt like that. One thing I do hope for is good officiating and hopefully no team will get done by idiotic calls. But something tells me that I shouldn't hold my breath on that one.

I've been playing down our chances of winning this since we knew who we were facing but I don't agree with the belief that we haven't played anybody like them this season. They have one of the best receivers and an excellent running game along with a very good QB and for me if you said that then if I didn't guess that the team you were talking about was the Falcons I'd say you were talking about the Steelers.

Just thinking of how we handled them gives me belief that we can do this.

I actually believe it'll be comfortable enough for the Pats in the end, I think they have the strength on the individual matchups, and the Falcons need to generate pressure from their front four, which I don't think they can do. Then again, on any given Sunday.......

    Pats to win 34-23

Can't wait for the game later.

Not much of an expert but feel that Ryan must play well for the falcons to win. Whereas the patriots could still win without Brady playing to his best.

It'll be interesting to see how Ryan handles the biggest stage.

The Steelers were without their excellent running back though, and 2016 Ben is not 2016 Matt Ryan.

I think the match ups do marginally favour the Pats though.

    Atlanta Falcons
Looking at a previous Falcons, one possible weakness is enough consistent pressure could disrupt the timing of their passing game. Knocking Matt Ryan’s offense off its timing, even slightly, is a must for the Patriots. If the Patriots don’t get apply steady pressure on Ryan, then their coverages won’t matter.

No, he got injured during the game but he was shut down before he got injured. He had 6 carries for 20 yards and the Patriots were well on top, and leading 17-8, by the time he got injured.

True, though a running game often establishes itself more over the course of a game and without him back there (or as a pass catching threat) it allowed the Patriots to focus more on Ben and the WRs. Pats still would have won, but as I said 2016 Ben (who struggled on the road quite a bit) is not 2016 Ryan (who had one of the best seasons a QB has ever had).

Again, the match ups do favour the Pats in my opinion but the 2016 Steelers (especially on the road) offense are not like-for-like with the 2016 Falcons offense, with the latter scoring 141 more points this season.

Yeah I voted for the Falcons in a fit of optimism last week and the more the week has worn on the less confident I've become. Still, I'm kind of looking at things like "experience on the big day" v "hunger" and so on, and I wonder is that as big a factor as some think given the turnover in rosters etc. Still, the gut feeling is this could be a bit one-sided. Hope I'm wrong though, bad playoffs, we need a good final.

I normally find the pre-match analysis for football in America completely vacuous and boring, but they have Josh Norman and Peanut Tillman beside each other talking about how to play Julio Jones and other elements of secondary play, it's actually really interesting.

They're also talking about and showing footage from their lost Super Bowls :(

EDIT: it's OK they've gone outside to where the others are rambling pointlessly over the screams and hoots of neanderthals. Director must have gotten worried about that outbreak of intelligence.

Other than Norman and Tillman Fox's coverage is nauseating at best.

Yeah but what was even worse was earlier on they had Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe pretending to argue, with a live audience of cretins thrown in to spice it up. Seeing Norman and Tillman after that was like watching the Chomsky-Foucault debate after seeing some chimps throw sh1t at one another.

Going around to a mates house for a bit of a Super Bowl party so made this is anyone else is interested for where they're going for a bit of fun.

Basically it's a coupon where you have to pick the player/team etc. in different scenarios, e.g. first.anytime scorer, total points, over/under yardage. You get points for correct outcomes. We're doing a fiver in and winner takes all

You can add anything you want to it really as it's just an excel file.

I'm sure I'm not alone in hoping that the game is a good one and we are talking about the two teams tomorrow and not something the officials do or don't do. I hope it's not a landslide to one team. The Seahawks broncos game from a few years ago wasn't a very interesting game.

Must be mad but I think the Falcons are going to win, just think they have so many ways to hurt a team. If the Patriots can stop Jones, they still have Gabriel, Hooper, Freeman, Coleman, Sanu.

I just think every time the Pats get beat in the play offs its because the opposing team essentially rag dolls Brady with their pass rush. I don't think the Falcons have it in them to do that. Brady is going to have time and will pick them apart.

Think the Pats win by a TD and Brady cements him place as the best ever (even though I really think he did that two years ago).

I hope that the Falcons stick to the plan that's got them to this point. They have trust the process as the Americans say.

Matt Ryan is the MVP for the a reason. The can't panic if they don't start like a house on fire.
