Anyone around old enough to remember this?

Sometime around the mid-60's, the Evening Herald, Carling and Raleigh organised popular fifty mile cycles from Dublin. As far as I can remember, they started and finished at the Herald offices in Abbey Street and took in some of the Dublin mountains. They ran once a year for a few years and then nothing. It was quite a while before sportives arrived on the scene.

I mentioned it here in a thread a while ago and didn't get much of a response. After coming across the badge above earlier today, I thought it might jog an ancient memory or two.
