    Hi all,

I have Samsung fridgefreezer, model RS21DCNS, which started making horrible sound this morning, there is ice built up at the back of the wall in the fridge part as well as the fridge itself doesn't really seem cool eventhough the temperature of the fridge says 2 degrees.

Any idea what is going on, and if possible to buy a part? It was mentioned to me this could be thermostat but not sure. Is it difficult to fit the part if I ordered online? Alternatively, would anybody know where in Dublin I could get a part? Thank you for all the help!

My mother in law had a similar issue with her Samsung fridge freezer, different model though. She got "an expert" out to repair it but he was unable to find the fault. I spotted the following video online, ordered the parts and carried out the repair. Fridge is perfect since. There may be a similar kit for your model.

HI and thanks, this is the thing, I actually don't know which part is causing the issue

its a while back for me but as fair as i can remember its the heater in the drain and the location of a temperature switch/sensor that are the issues

If you google it you will find lots of forums in the uk talking about it

I was not able to rectify the issue permanently and ended up getting rid

in short the evaporator defrosts and the resultant water is drained away but the drain doesnt defrost fully / gets block and the evaporator ices up
when the ice builds up to the top it starts to catch the fan and that is the noise (awful racket at times)
then the ice continues to build up and block the fab stopping it and the noise stops!
you think problem is solved till temp rise in the fridge

a quick temporary fix if you are not technically minded is to unplug the fridge and leave it with doors open for 24 hrs+ to allow to defrost fully

but it is not fixing the problem

I used to take the fan & evaporator casing out and defrost as in the video every 3-4 months till i got sick of it
