Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Wayne Rooney has confirmed in a statement that he's "staying at Manchester United".

Wayne Rooney's statement to Press Association Sport

"Despite the interest which has been shown from other clubs, for which I'm grateful, I want to end recent speculation and say that I am staying at Manchester United.

"I hope I will play a full part in helping the team in its fight for success on four fronts.

"It's an exciting time at the club and I want to remain a part of it."

I don't mind Rooney staying till the summer, but I hope he doesn't intend on winding down his contract and leaving for free, or hoping for a new contract.

And then Rooney himself, I know he would probably rather be at a big club, but if its clear to him that his time at United is up do you really think he would choose China over staying in the UK with a PL club like Palace, West Brom, maybe Newcastle next season?

If he was willing to take a wage cut, sure. But there's not many teams who'll pay £250k a year to him. As opposed to China, where he looks like he could double or triple his wage.

Let's see how long it takes for the media to turn their attention to another United player with 'he wants out' 'he's leaving' 'unhappy' blah blah blah stories.

Why would it bother you? He has a contract so he can see it out if he wants. He's out of the team and not likely to get back in so it shouldn't make any difference. Himself and Bastion can be bench buddies.

He would get less money than he would in China, thats a given, but off-setting that is that he wouldn't have to move to a completely different culture and it would also allow him to remain a factor internationally. I can see those factors mattering to Rooney, as opposed to him just taking the most financially lucrative option.

    wtf.

he never said that, he was asked what his favourite meal was and that was his answer. doesnt mean he eats it everyday. you dont play at the top level for Manchester United and England by having a crap diet!!

Did I say he eats it every day? You've no comment on the drinking and smoking part no?

Wonder what would be the top 3 toughest?

Shakhtar, Roma and Spurs I'd say. United would be favourites in every tie though, Shakhtar are definitely one to avoid for you due to the travelling and how tough a game it would be.

It doesn't bother me, I won''t be losing sleep over it, but I would like the club to get some money for him if he is to move on.

I personally think the club have benefitted massively from the money they have spent on him. His transfer fee was a snip when you think of it and his wages reflect how marketable and successful he has been. If he leaves for free I think the club have got great value for him over his career.

Spurs are going out of this cup tonight. Alli the sap lost control of himself and got sent off. Rightfully so.

If they go out, I have no problems putting us as favourites in the cup. Would love it.

That was a really really bad tackle from Alle. Could easily have broke the leg of the lad.

Like, the amount the leg actually bent was impressive.

On paper favourites yes but the eastern European sides will be all pretty tough teams to beat if drawn against them they are always hard to travel too. It would be lovely to won it for a change especially with the reward on offer.

My absolute bastard hat on ideal situation would be...

Pip Liverpool to 4th then win the EL so we didn't even need the 4th place.

    Muahahahaha

Tackling any player like that anywhere above the foot or below the thigh should be a red card and possibly more as its extremely dangerous. Your leg is so vulnerable from the knee down.

He absolutely meant it too. He has that in him.

Saw it live and I ain't watching it again.

    Shocking tackle.

Just on the Raineri sacking, hopefully it lefts them out of their slump for the Pool game (then they can drop back again)

    Facking hell, that was woeful.

He's a quality footballer but boy does he have some Joey Barton tendencies.

    Doing the rounds on twitter.

Premier League winning managers since 2012:

Mancini - sacked the next season
Sir Alex - retired before next season
Pellegrini - sacked the next season
Mourinho - sacked the next season
Ranieri - sacked the next season

Wenger is smarter than you think!

    :)

    United's last 25 games:
    18 wins
    6 draws
1 loss - in a game they could afford to lose.
