Question, just going through all the car documents, there's no service book, I'm assuming there should be one, probably taken out at dealer to stamp and they forgot to put it back in, yes/no

Yeah. Should be at the very least :

    Service book
    Car user manual
    Navigation user manual

I got a load of other little leaflets and documents but nothing worthwhile. The receipts for each service were a bonus to go alongside the stamped book.

Cheers, have the rather large car and nav manual and another car manual so I'll give the dealership a call in the morning...

Service book is usually in the warranty book no?

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 19,179 Mod ✭✭✭✭slave1

No warranty book either, did ye guys get a warranty book separate from the service book that you usually get stamped?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,284 ✭✭✭cros13

Service log with stamps were at the front of the warranty book.

Warranty book and service history book is the one book.

This is what I got if it helps.

Thanks for all that, I phoned the dealership and they're having a look around for it.

Tried unsuccessfully to register the car for EVConnect, just kept stalling at the "enter VIN" stage, phoned them and it turns out they've a new security measure where they look for the engine number, only when they enter the engine number their end could I register with my VIN.
All done now, herself is delighted I can see where the car is and the recent journeys!!!!!

Why does my Leaf say 12hours to recharge, it's obviously 3.3kw so should be way less than that?

It adds on a few hours for cell balancing. It will be at 97%+ long before the 12hrs.

Okay, and I'm reading from various other posts that it's a good idea to carry out this cell balancing around once a week?
    Yes/No

    Yes/No

    Yes

If you dont, what happens is that the cells will not have the same balanced energy in them and the whole pack is only as good as the weakest link. So you will hit low battery warning(LBW) quicker if the cells are not balanced every now and again. Thats my understanding of it anyway.

I think its also useful to occasionally run the battery beyond LBW so that the Battery Management System(BMS) knows the batteries low point. It will give more accurate figures then once it has "seen" the low point.

So, a combination of seeing the low point and a full cell balancing gives you the most out of the pack.

So your Nissan Connect EV is working for you after one call...:D

    Tuesday 7th
Yet another brutally frustrating phone call with Nissan UK re the Connect

First up they couldn't find it so had to start from scratch, VIN, Engine number.
Then when I said I couldn't access it on with the app or the browser
they told me the same as last Friday, the issue needs to be escalated to s less tech-dumb expert/specialist, will take 3 or 4 working days.

Yeah, EV Connect working fine, took her for a motorway spin last night and then a rapid to get her ready for some miles today.
Travelled 78.8kms last night, lights on, heater on, air con on/off, 2degrees and the app tells me my average energy consumption was 0.19lWh/km so I assume this driving pattern is leading to the full charge (charged on granny to 100% overnight) range of 174km (A/C on) 185km (A/C off).
I'd expect this range to improve when we get over the hump of bringing up the odometer for the NCT.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

Motorway? What speed? That's very decent efficiency, similar to what Nyland had in the i3 (the second most efficient EV there is after the Ioniq). Obviously a bit colder over there in northern Norway though :D

I was in no rush so just hit cruise control at 100kms/hr for the entire journey.

She asks if there is anyone on this forum who has bought, recently, a brand new Leaf in Ireland and successfully uses NCEV.
If so, how long did the process take?
    Thanks

    Happy days :)
I thought I done loads with 460km since I bought last week (and that includes the trip home from Glasgow to Belfast to Dublin!)

Booked for the end of the month, you have to book within 7 days of bringing her in, with appointment within 30days.

Just be aware you may need to know where the VIN is in the "engine" bay, it's directly at the back behind a clip out section at the dead centre and almost directly under the window

Didn't know it either but it seems the NCT/VRT folks in Galway knew from previous experience. I just showed her the VIN on the shield but this wasn't sufficient. She had the knowledge ref. pulling out the plastic bit.

I know Mennekes were charging over €100 for the Type 2 socket. They hold the patent, they used to want more than €500 at one point (the prices from those days is partly where ESB got the €1k "value" for the free chargepoint).

You can see how if commoditised and produced in large numbers I reached a price of €30-50 for the average chargepoint in 10 years if the EU mandate for chargepoints in new builds comes in.

type 2 EVSE socket can be got at trade for around 90 euros and prices are falling Type 2 Car connector is available for about 75 euros

Thanks: did you order a new one or buy ex-stock.
I, on mature reflection rather unwisely, bought ex-stock, as the driveshaft was gone in my old car so couldn't wait until May/June for a new one.
Bad mistake: they have my mula now and they just can't be orsed.
