Would prefer to buy from a place here in Dublin/Ireland,but if it means Ebay Uk or further afield, then so be it.

    Front wheel I take it?

Even if it is the rear hub, they look like standard bearings. Try a local bearing supplier.

Both wheels, getting them painted or powdercoated black,so was advized to get new bearings while they are off.:)

There's a bearing place in Finglas. Usually 1/3 of the price of dealer.

    Dicksons bearings.

Used these people before for old crankshaft bearings, can't remember exact price but way cheaper than ebay and the like.

I'll stick my plug in here for bearingsonline.ie, a place in Offaly

Full set of proper SKF bearings, front/rear/sprocket carrier for my zx6, for approx 30euro (inc 6e postage). Was getting powdercoating myself too

Need to work out the sizes however, but should be googleable

Wossack, who did you go with for the powder coating?

Any problem with powder coat/over spray in the bearing holes or brake disc holes?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,025 ✭✭✭Wossack

    I went with tallaght powdercoat
no problem with bearing recesses, or bolt holes, but problem with the machined edge the disc actually fits flush against - so make sure that 'shoulder' is masked off also.. bit of a headache otherwise..!

Would it not be easier, and probably more reliable, to read the number off the ones that are taken out of the wheel? Unless Ducati use proprietary bearings, which I doubt.

I asked front as the front wheel houses the bearings. The rear wheel doesn't, the bearings are in the hub supporting the axle and the wheel itself doesn't hold the bearings.

    That's my understanding from this:

Yep - not always legible prior to removal however, which can add some turn round time to the operation which I wanted to avoid

When it comes to guys looking for parts for bikes or info on parts there seems to be an ignorance/laziness about using the internet which confuses me....maybe i'll Google it...

Sounds about right for a good set....btw for p/c dont leave the old bearings in, they'll make you take them out or charge you for doing it.....the grease will melt and fcuk up the finish...;)

Yep Triumph single sided swingarms are the same.

No bearings in the back wheel.

Wonder what Cotters sold the OP so...?

    Scrap the cap!

    Thanks for that.:)
Well if this feckin 46/41mm wheel socket would turn up in the post for me,I can whip the wheels off the 996 and get the bearings out.
Ebay is a love hate thing for me at the moment.
Some stuff arrives fast, other stuff takes absolutely ages.:pac:
