Indoor season has begun and is starting to pick up speed. The National Juniors and U23s were on today. Pride of place must go to 17 year-old Ciara Neville, who tied the senior 60m record with 7.30.

What is the story with Sarah Collins?
She hasn't done much on this side of the water in a few years.
Has she been injured or focusing solely on NCAA?
Surely would have been a strong addition to the women's XC team..

Did she not run in the 3,000m indoors at the nationals also?

    She did.

I guess she's targeting a spring marathon? Any ideas which one?

Great to see Paul Robinson back in good form and a promising opener from Mark English too.

Stephen Scullion looks to be hitting some crackinh form right now after his big PB in the London marathon. Ran 28:58 last night in the Portland Track festival 10,000m in his debut at the distance. Serious running considering he was out for 8 months not too long ago.

16 year-old Kate O'Connor scored 5632pts in the European Combined Events Team Championships, 2nd league, this weekend in Monzón. It's only 37 pts off the new national record, set by another teenager, Elizabeth Morland.

It's great to see two great young talents in one event which has been historically quite weak.

One of the best runs of the year by an Irish athlete has been missed here. Brian Gregan 45.48 in Switzerland to get the 400m standard for London, bettering a 4 year old PB. Goes to second on Irish all time list.

That brings our number of non marathon non walkers (aka stadium athletes) for London from 4 to 5. Can't see it moving from that, but hope I'm wrong.

On recent form the odds on either of them hitting sub 9:42 are quite long indeed. Treacy who is injured, is the only one of the 3 to ever run that time before. 9:55 for Finn and 9:57 for O'Flaherty this week in Hungary is not very encouraging.

National Junior Record for the 4x1 team tonight in Lausanne. 44.31 by Molly Scott, Sharlene Mawdsley, Gina Akpe-Moses and Ciara Neville.

It's also the fifth fastest time ever by an Irish quartet.

I'm open to correction, but I believe it might be a national Under23 record, too!
