We've just planted an edible hedge at work - when the ground is nice and compliant is the time to move, most of winter is over as well (probably). For 60m you'll need at about 200 plants (3 per meter) for a fully filled dense look.

No need to spend extra money on posted plants. Now is the ideal time to get bareroot plants and sow them as ground conditions allow.
Them hornbeam plants above are €4 each at around 3'. You should be able to pick up beech a similar size for well below half that money.
Beech is very similar to hornbeam, probably more widely available but favours slightly drier soils.
60 m hedge, you've two options, a single row or a double staggered row. Double row staggered will make a thicker hedge quicker. Something like 18" apart each plant staggered a foot between rows.
Single row maybe a foot between plants.
So off the top of my head, rough calculations....
Single row 200 plants. Double row 300 plants.

These figures are for a good thick hedge. You'd get away with bigger spacings but they take longer to fill into a hedge!

You can plant a hedge 12 months of the year, when you use plants that are in pots, but the dormant season is the season to plant bare rooted plants and they can be bought at a fraction of the cost (at least 50% cheaper) than potted plants, and now is the ideal time to plant bare rooted plants.

For a single row of hedge you should plant 3 per yard and for a double row you should plant 4 per yard, so 60m=66yrds, you'll need 198 plants for a single row or 264 plants for a double row, it costs €120 per 100 for bare root hornbeam plants that are 2-3 feet in size.
