Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    3-1. Grealish.

Came on earlier for McGinn. Sounds a great strike too.

    Full Time. 3-1. Job done.

    Next round draw up soon.

    Drawn at home to Wolves.

    Wolves at Villa Park next

Just seen highlights, and short version of them, but Davis seemed to stand out in a lot of them. Great play to make 2nd goal, and had 3 defenders on him for 3rd which made space for Grealish - Given Wesley's mixed form maybe Davis needs a bit more time in.

Will never understand the hatred for Micah, he gets hammered for not leaving when everyone would stay in his position.

I've never heard a bad word about him from anyone involved at the club in fact they all go out of their way to say how good an influence he was around the place, stayed ripped to shreds his whole time here so was obviously working hard in the gym hoping he could get the knee right.

You’re never going to be popular when you earn that much money from a football club without ever contributing at all.

Understandable that he has a side to the story also, and I’d never have expected that his would be that he was a waster, but personally my lasting memory of him will always be feeling like he was phoning it in among others during the relegation season.

Hutton didn’t do the same thing though he was in the same position.

Imagine the Villa manager and players did this after the semi final playoff win over West Brom and lost by a goal.....

I don't have too much problem with the fact he didn't play for long periods, his injuries seemed to be quite tricky. I dislike him because he was absolutely terrible 90% of the time he played for Villa, a liability in a lot of games. He should have been gone before he got the injuries.

Matt Lowton and Ashley Westwood return to Villa Park this afternoon I always thought Lowton was solid and he'll always be remembered for this.

Ashley Westwood got an awful lot of criticism when we went down I think expectations were too high for him, he was playing in a poor team with no creative players controlling midfield. As he was one of the few who actually showed he cared when we were relegated I'm delighted he's established himself as a PL player.

I think both will get a decent reception but we need the 3 points to settle the nerves.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,791 ✭✭✭✭JPA

    Seriously need 3 points today.

Be harsh on Conor if he still doesn't get a start.

The only role he'll excel in is playing him as an AM, there's no point finding a place in the team for him at DM

Highly doubt he will get in today. He played 90 mins during the week. I'd say he will get more than 10 mins though.

conor deserves the start but i also think that smith doesnt trust him at this level

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,093 ✭✭✭Patser

Hourihane is in for Trezeguet - so does that mean Grealish pushed to wing? Targett in too. Maybe McGinn pushed wider right and El Ghazi left?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,791 ✭✭✭✭JPA

Targett and Hourihane in, Taylor and Trezeguet out.

Looks like Grealish might be pushed wide with this lineup.

Hopefully Targett gets up and running.

    Your right

    Scoring regularly is untrustworthy

    :)

If Hourihane can't get forward he struggles to contribute, but fingers crossed he does will.

I’ve no problem at all seeing those two lads get a chance, hope they take it now. Big game and chance for 3pts

There are definitely some untrustworthy aspects to his game but given some in the team aren’t performing and he’s done well in his League Cup appearances, it seems fair to me that he’s getting a change today.

    Hourihane rocket off post

    Burnley very defensive

And now a MacNeil rocket off crossbar - battle of the free kicks so far

    Get in Mcginn.

    How's the team shape looking?

I missed the goal, and have to head out now, but 1st 20 minutes were ok. Villa midfield more compact, Grealish playing left side but not out and out winger.

Game was a bit scrappy thought, typical 'Old English' game - lots of long balls and chasing, pressure stuff. Little quality.

    McGinn my fantasy capt

    Ruled out for offside.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,500 ✭✭✭✭fullstop

Grealish should have released the ball to him earlier.

Feel like when we are in the championship again as I can only keep updated via bbc/sky reports and... we are winning!

Happy to see (well read) both the new wing backs getting forward and doing well

FFS how many leads do we keep throwing away?

Can we have a late winner for once?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,093 ✭✭✭Patser

2 crosses, 2 headers, 2 goals for Burnley - you'd expect Engels and Mings to deal with that threat

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,093 ✭✭✭Patser

    McGinn in pain

    Edit: Is back up

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,093 ✭✭✭Patser

    7 minutes injury time....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,557 ✭✭✭✭CSF

This is one seriously mentally weak team right now.
