Does anyone have any good suggestions to take the missus to a nice restaurant for Valentines? Something a little different maybe? South Dublin or South city?

Might be tricky getting something for tonight but a few I've been to recently that I liked:

http://thatsamoremonkstown.ie/ That's Amore in Monkstown, Authentic Italian, almost definitely booked for most "conventional" times as it's quite small but absolutely excellent spot.

http://www.seapointrestaurant.ie/ Seapoint in Monkstown, bit pricey but amazing quality, and the surf in turf in particular is one of the best I've ever had. If you're looking to make the extra effort, this is worth checking out

http://lastapasdelola.com/ Las Tapas de Lola is a great little spanish tapas restaurant off st stephen's green. really good authentic spanish food, our old spanish au pair said it was the best in Dublin :D

http://www.ouzos.ie/ Ouzos, blackrock. Was here recently for the wife's graduation and everything about the place was brilliant but the food was worth calling out as particularly good!

    Hope these help!

Ananda in Dundrum TC if you like Indian. It's not like curry with rice and naan, but kind of like fine dining Indian dishes and it's top notch.

You have good taste in restaurants :D

I have been to That's Amore a few times, the first couple of times it was beautiful. But 4 of us went about 6 months ago, and we all left feeling very underwhelmed and that we wouldn't go back (which we haven't!). It could just have been a bad night, but it really put us off the place. The restaurant is tiny....seats less than 20 people so you usually have to book weeks in advance, so can't see you getting a table for Valentine's at this late stage.

I'll give a massive +1 to Seapoint. Have been a number of times and always enjoyed it. The service is excellent also. My girlfriend had the surf and turf last time we were there and she was very impressed with it.

I have been to Tapas de Lola once. Nice place and would go back, but wasn't blown away at the time. But that could be due to having very high expectations from everything I had heard about the place!

Odells in Sandycove, opposite Fitzgerald#s pub. Consistently excellent. The decor has been upgraded recently, a very pleasant room.

+1 for That's Amore as well, best pizza in ireland IMO

Las Tapas in Cabinteely village has very nice food, fresh and authentic: and also quite a romantic atmosphere and decor.
