What is the latest firmware version for the F2000 ?

The reason that I ask is that a neighbor recently has Eir fibre installed but his download speed was only 6.7.

This was about he had been getting the "old" broadband.

I contacted Eir who tested the line an said he should get about 40.

They upgraded profile but the result was still the same.

A further call and the technician told me that the F2000 firmware was version 23 and that he could update it.

With the firmware upped to 30 suddenly the speed shot up to 40 - 41.

Is this a problem with the current batch of F2000s or is is this a rogue ?

    Hi  Dulchie

The latest firmware update for the modem is the 30 but this will only help with Wifi signal.
It sounds like the issue your neighbour was experiencing could have been that he was getting 40mb via cable and only 6.7 over wifi.
And after the update helped the speed transmission via wifi, or it could have been down to amount of devices connected / environment etc.

The update is to improve the signal of the Wi-Fi chip in the modem and this would be a bonus but as with all things wifi related it wouldn’t be guaranteed.

    Thanks,
    Pamela

    Hi Pamela,

I can confirm that the laptop concerned was directly connected by ethernet cable to the F2000. The WiFi was not used.

The second Eir technician I spoke to who new of the problem and corrected it told me that the firmware upgrade was intended to help with the eir vision service.

However the downloads/upload speeds did increase dramatically when the f2000 was upgraded.
