Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hyratest Crypton battery tester

I have a 1950's (I think) battery tester from Hyratest. Looks a little like a ray gun from a bad sci fi film

When I tried checking a battery with it, it simply arced and gave no reading.

I've opened it up, its pretty basic. All the wiring and connections seem to be OK, the little bulb that offers resistance (I assume) doesn't seem to be blown, and the dial indicator is press fitted, so I don't want to pull it apart unless absolutely necessary.

Anybody with experience of these tools able to shed light on common problems/fixes etc?

    Had to google it :)

On topic, nope I wouldn't know anything about this yoke.
    Try an electric shop maybe?

Actually, even though the light bulb looked OK, never trust the work that went before you, even if its your own :D

Checked it with a multimeter, open circuit, so next step new bulb
