Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Isn't it really bizarre that our record signing is starting today and nobody really cares?

    Football has gone mental.

Realistically though, hes no marquee signing. Financially - yes, top quality - no.

That's interesting. I wonder can it be generalized to his time playing in centre mid though or does it apply solely to when he played on the wing for us?

The point is, that Cazorla has hardly played for us for 2 seasons. He will never be the player he was, and it's very hard to see a place for him in our current formation....unless we go back to having someone like Ramsey or Ozil on the flank to assist him with an extra outlet, which was always a key to Caz getting the ball forward. He hasn't offered any goal threat for years, either. His last goal from open play in the league was probably 3 years ago.

I know. My original argument was that we need to get someone else in the squad to do that job. I don't think it matters what formation we play, we need someone in the mid field who can receive the ball with their back to goal when we're under pressure and still move the ball forward. None of our other midfielders (with the exception of Wilshere perhaps) can operate in such tight spaces.

Not feeling great about the line up. Not sure if the team has to smarts to unlock Chelsea.

I've only just realised how small Lacazette is. He's only about the same height as Sanchez.

    Almost amazing from Lacazette

injury to Mert really seems to have affected our rhythm. That bsck 3 looks even more make shift now.

Ox is so wasteful on the ball, given away possession countless times already.

Poor ol Danny, playing very well but an embarrassment in front of goal. :D

    Holding has been poor

    Holding has been poor

tracking and tackling ok but distribution is awful

    Iwobi has been brilliant

    Iwobi has been brilliant

He's going to be a big player this year I think, he has more potential than any of the previous wave that came through

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,382 ✭✭✭✭greendom

    dopey start to 2nd half

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,382 ✭✭✭✭greendom

Cahill is a clumsy oaf. That's 2 players he's knocked out. 3 if you include himself

Impressive stuff not letting Chelsea play at all. Looking good just not sharp up front yet.

Was looking forward to seeing Giroud and Lacazette together but Wenger has other plans.

And how is Welbeck still on?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,342 ✭✭✭Bobby Baccala

Is Alonso capable of keeping the ball in play?

Mcmanaman talking about Cahill's last second interception, and he says "Thank God!"

Are BT commentators not even bothering to hide their anti-Arsenal bias anymore?

The last ball where Walcott cut back in? Think that was Ox.

Arsenal up 3-1 on pens...just need one more! Cmon!!

    It was Bellerin.

Feels really weird, our record against Chelsea since Conte came in. Isn't it 3-1 to us (if you ignore the match in China)?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,435 ✭✭✭wandatowell

Thought we looked very good at times today. Delighted with the win. Roll on Leicester.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,729 ✭✭✭Arne_Saknussem

Won the shootout 4-1 and Cech still hasn't saved a penalty :P

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,382 ✭✭✭✭greendom

    4 brilliant penalties.

Was that the one that Azpulacueta got a foot to? The long ball that Theo got in the box and then cut inside definitely wasn't Bellerin, it came from deep left and Bellerin was running in to support.

Wasn't it Elneny? Another brilliant game from him. Roll on Friday.

So we've won 3 of the last 4 FA cups, and 3 of the last 4 Charity Shields.

    That's not bad at all.

I had to rewind to check. It wasn't actually shown live as they were replaying a Chelsea chance. On the replay it looks like Ox but could be Elneny.

    (or maybe Gibbs)

Delighted with the win. Will still need reinforcements for the whole season. May there be no more injuries. Roll on 2017/18 campaign

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,694 ✭✭✭emmetlego

I know he got MOTM, I wouldn't have given it to him personally, maybe Kolasinac, but apparently Xhaka had 98 passes and a completion rate of %100. That's impressive! Really like the look of our 2 new signings. Iwobi is oozing class, big year from him looms and Reiss Nelson has bags of potential too.

Enjoying today for what it is, silverware (of sorts) and beating Chelsea on Spurs home ground! :-)

Not really too arsed about the Charity Shield but happy to win it , Thought Ox, Wally and Welbeck were all very poor today , Bellerin not much better

The red card was ridiculous though yellow at best , Kolasnic was great nice to have a monster back in the team :) , The laca shot that hit the post was very Henryesque was very excited by the thoughts of him going forward this season when Mo and Alexis come into the team
