Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Sky Sports News just showed a beaitiful pass from Wilshere to Giroud who struck his overhead kick against the bar

    Great effort.

Walcott goal, great ball by Sanchez, nicely control and finish by Walcott (in fairness to him!!)

None of the young lads shining tonight.
Doncaster are a poor Div 1 outfit.
    It's like a kick about.

Nice pace from Maitland-Niles to stop that break. We should be putting these guys to the sword, seriously need another goal.

+1 ... if that where Mert in the 1v1 it would be 1-1  seriously need another

Maitland Niles is quicker than Hector! Some pace on that lad.

    Stupid flicks everywhere

Giroud going for the extravagant for his 100th and I think the rest of them are just trying to help him get it.

Hopefully he does get it so he can just get on with scoring "normal" goals.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,111 ✭✭✭✭Quazzie

Sanchez tries a stupid flick for Walcott to run on to when there isn't a hope of it coming off, then within 30 seconds he feels out with Giroud for trying similar. Sack

I think Jack Wilshere may get MOTM, he has been great.

Best player on the pitch, I know it's Doncaster but he was very good. Game was awful though.

Wilshere's new haircut is hopefully a sign of new and improved fortunes. His stop-start career at Arsenal really began to falter when he started looking like someone from a Brylcream advertisement. Not necessarily blaming all his misfortune on the hair, but it was remarkably coincidental.

Theo took his goal well. I'm sure he'd clean up at a League One Level.

He was Arsenal's 2nd highest goal scorer last season with 19 goals. Yep, league 1 is where he belongs...

Please don't start defending Theo, we all know how limited he is!

He's a limited striker who scores goals. It is what it is.

Infuriating as he is how many clubs have a 4th choice striker capable of 20 goals a season.

Yeah. He must be the best paid 4th choice striker in the world.

As frustrating as Theo is, Arsenal's issues are not entirely his. AW sacrifices a lot to continue his style of play and this results in us conceding silly goals on a regular basis. The team without Ozil and Sanchez is better equipped to defend because we have better players in defensive positions. There may be some merit to playing Laz up top on his own while having a more solid defensive foundation behind him. He looks fairly clinical and with good midfield support it may make us hard to beat while at the same time give us the ability to take the chances when they arrive. Back to the 1-0 days rather than the current 4-3 or more likely 1-5 days

Without Sanchez and Ozil there will be a lot more 0-0 days, we might be more solid defensively but we will never create enough chances. Against the bigger teams away from home I'm fine with it but when we are playing against teams with 10 men behind the ball we need Ozil's and Sanchez's magic to unlock defences.

I am not saying that we don't play them, I was making the point that the formation of the team isn't setup to be solid defensively. The game without either of them showed that with the correct setup we can be more solid. They could be part of that type of setup but the way we play - and they play - would have to compromise

It's not like we're scoring any more goals since Özil and Sanchez signed for us.

Should let both of them rot in the reserves for the season as Sanchez seems to love seeing the team loose anyway and ozil is just ozil

Hope you've all voted for Giroud's goal in the Puskas award

    http://www.fifa.com/the-best-fifa-football-awards/puskas-award/video=2908797/index.html

Funny that he didn't even get goal of the month, and now he's up for a Puskas for it.

Andy Carroll got it iirc. Girouds was definitely a better goal. The English player was always going to get the nod

I thought it was Henrikh Mkhitaryan's, even though his didn't look as technical.

That was in January. Giroud's was a couple of days later, but went into January's competition

    https://www.premierleague.com/stats/awards

He won the MOTD goal of the month

Quite like the look of that. Ramsey further forward, Sanchez and Laca together.

Elneny is the only problem there in my eyes, any game were we'll have most of the ball and attacking he should be nowhere near the middle.

Wilshere obviously not ready and Iwobi injured to maybe no other option especially if Ozil is not right either
