You know when we signed players over the last few years, and you 'youtube them' to have a look and see what their skill set is like, youtube makes them look fantastically good. Imagine if you were to sign a new Dennis. Holy sh*t lads. Youtube would explode!

If Paul Pogba costs 100m then a prime Dennis Bergkamp would surely cost half a billion by todays standards? That said, what set Dennis apart was his ground logistical approach to the game of football. He approached his football career as he does his life. He wants to get the maximum return out of it. No footballer today carries themself with the same poise or grace as Bergkamp and co did in their day

So many useless overrated pr1cks in the game today but Dennis was something special. And extraordinarily loyal and moral

I really don't get all this Iwobi bashing. Not everyone mind, but a few. He's only a kid, and he's a brilliant prospect I think. He has show terrific promise. He's just being over used by Wenger. We should not be depending on a kid as a regular starter.

I was "bashing" Iwobi last season. He's not good enough. He leaves his side of the pitch exposed too much, runs into blind alleys too much and messes up in the box too much. As I've said before him being on the bench with no injuries and in the first 11 with one injury is a disgrace.

I agree on Iwobi. He looks like he'd be brilliant in 5 a side during training but he doesn't back it up in the real game.

This i agree with Arsene on.
    Im a specialist in masochism

He gets spanked quite a lot and doesnt seem to mind.

Yeah but if we wanted to sign him today he would have been considered a failure at Inter and there would be consternation among the fans if Wenger (or anyone) tried to sign someone like him.

True, he would be good as an impact sub

Iwobi is a fine player, just massively overplayed. He was anonymous in Munich (then again so were 9 others) and tends to drift in and out of games.

What are peoples thoughts about tomorrow? What line-up should we expect?

This Liverpool defence can definitely be got at and they are worse off in midfield without Henderson.

If anyone is travelling to the game, be aware Lime Street is closed so expect delays, its going to be a bit of a nightmare for both sets of fans.

Hard to call we could win 4-0 or lose by the same, bith teams are way too unpredictable, if our attacking players Özil Sanchez and I'm hoping Perez play well they won't live with us, once we can nullify Mane Liverpool are average. I'll go for a 2-1 win

I think he minds a lot. I'd say it hurts him much more than it does the supporter

And probably a lot more than most of the players.

I'd take a draw now, as I cant see anything other than a home win. Prove me wrong, boys.

If the team have used this 10 day period without games well, we could get a result up there.

They're pretty good at home though - only 1 defeat and that was to Swansea !

They're a different animal at home, and lets not mention how we usually turn out against the bigger teams away from home. Omens are not good.

So why not take measures to prevent it from happening as opposed to continuing with the same useless approach?

Game will be decided by our two CMs, personally think coq will get caught out of position multiple times by the Pool forwards and Xhaka will get an early yellow and be forced to back off for the rest of the game. Hope to god I'm wrong. 3-2 to Liverpool I reckon.

No Ozil tomorrow. Has flu (apparently)

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,186 ✭✭✭domrush

I think Giroud will get the nod tomorrow. Line up like this

    Cech
    Bellerin--Mustafi--Kos--Monreal
    Xhaka----Coq
    Walcott
    Iwobi
    Sanchez
    Giroud

Would prefer a front 4 of Perez--Iwobi--Welbz and Sanchez but doesn't seem like it'll ever happen

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,072 ✭✭✭12gauge dave

If xhaka and perez dont hit the ground running next season it will be another 2 pointless signings by wenger.

That team doesn't inspire confidence. Out of our available players I'd like to see Ospina ahead of Cech. He's just a disaster waiting to happen all season. No.

I'd be extremely worried about Coq dealing with Mane's runs. Don't think there's any chance Wenger will drop Cech though. Can you believe he was the only signing we made before last season. 10 million ffs.

Worrying alright... I expect plenty of goals in this one. Signing a GK as your only transfer...I can't think of another club in any of the top leagues where that's acceptable. It's actually ridiculous. Fair enough if that one player is Ronaldo or messi... But a f*cking goalie.

Just popped in to see what yee were saying. Liverpool fan myself.

Got a laugh out of the above comment.

Yeah its pretty much a meeting of the two most frustrating teams in the league to support.

Whatever about you lot but we actually know in advance that we will turn up for a game against the top sides and then lose to Bournemouth/Burnley the next week.

Both Arsenal and Liverpool have become more and more alike in recent times and not in a good way.

Both way too soft. As soon as a team puts it up to either of us we both wilt.

Vieira and Petit and the likes and Mascherano and Gerrard etc....
Even at the back, Adams/Keown.... Hyppia/Carra
    Even up front Bergkamp/Suarez

Nowadays...... you'd struggle to pick out 4 players combined from the two teams who have a pair of balls between them when the chips are down.

Koscielny (mispelling) and Milner would be the closest.

Sad state of affairs when a run of the mill Man Utd team now looks capable of finishing above either of us after giving us both a huge lead earlier in the season.

Whatever the result tomorrow, both teams need to look long and hard about the lack of leadership on the field. Both too soft.

Correct me if I'm wrong but at that time were we not the only club in Europe that transfer window that didn't sign an outfield player.

That team was a long way from perfect and a long long way from only needing a goalie to perfect it.

    Some ambition wha?!!!!

Wenger is a joke from there on in,from that day he's negatively impacting his reputation(imo he's negatively impacting Arsenal performances a bit longer than that)

If he can't hang a stingy board and hang that kroenke cnut out to dry then he needs to go....if he can't hack top level management then he's gotta go too.

I'm still holding out hope He's stupidly taking all the abuse for sh1t transfer Windows but there's more, the team doesn't look good(totally subjective),I don't think we play near as good as a few years back.
Used to play well and lose, now it's play poor losing.

Btw I think we will thump Liverpool haha...I'm going win by 3..Sanchez 2 prob Walcott with another...
No Ozil??...I'd be hoping everybody else is thinking they better step it up.

I didn't quote the rest of you'd post because I more or less agree with you.

That backline of ours Adams/Keown cannot be compared with your lads.
I'm on the edge with my Gunner glasses on Bergkamp being twice the player Suarez is(and Suarez twice the player Sanchez is for balance lol).

Posted we win by 3 but I'd not be surprised if Liverpool did....let's hope for a cracker of a match where both of us play well and Arsenal come out 4-1 winners

Dead right on the defence, no comparison whatsoever and they wern't even the best CB partnership we had, Kolo and Sol were better for me personally.

Suarez and Bergkamp very different players hard to compare the two. Henry and Suarez much more alike, two strikers whereas Bergkamp was a cross between a no.10 and a second striker. Bergkamp had a different level of talent, more than sheer athleticism.

Sad that to think of good times for these two huge clubs we have to look back ten years.

Bergkamp was one of the best footballers I've ever seen....imo....top 2

He's too old now, he's 73 I think. We need somebody like him on the board, but a lot younger.

David Deins don't grow on trees unfortunately. Biggest loss to the club in Arsene's tenure.

    Sanchez is off

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,186 ✭✭✭domrush

Unless this is some tactical masterstroke by Wenger to bring him on against a tired defence this makes no sense. He only played 20 mins last week and we've what should be an easy game next week.

Personally, quite happy with the line up. Should be solid from set pieces defensively with Giroud and Welbeck, and won't have Sanchez giving them the ball constantly.

Control of midfield isn't important against Liverpool. No Sanchez seems a bit desperate though.

Supposedly making his feelings about moving in the summer felt around the club, not saying it has anything to do with it but can't have that going on.

That bit on BT though. :/ Maybe he was already gone before the game, if so then I can cheer for us. :p

Like to know the reasoning for that. I suppose the team isn't functioning at the moment so may as well make a change. Hard to justify dropping Sanchez though especially with our other world class player missing.

I wasn't very confident about this afternoon but losing Sanchez hasn't made me any more pessimistic

Wenger must think he has a chance against Bayern on aggregate
