There also needs to be a pub or somewhere with 2 or 3 pool tables; surely that would do well with a few people coming into play everynight and buying a few pints as well!

Yup, Mulcahys in Clonmel is an example of how this is done so well.

The Mansion would have been a good place to put something like this in and get some people into the place when it re-opened.

The outlay is only about €3k for 3 tables and they would make that money back easily within a few months.

The thing to do is to charge 50c or something like that a game and you can be guaranteed they would have a steady string of players in there also buying drinks.

Then do a weekly pool comp or something like that on a quiet night like a Tuesday and get a few people in there for that night too...

Pity no-one has this vision in Waterford...

How much are they charging per game of pool in Norris's?

Also is it busy in there in terms of would you get a few games in without being interrupted?

The lights are on a timer so you just top it up as you go. Depends on the length of the frame then I suppose how much it cost, no more the a euro or two. Haven't been in a while so I can't say if it's busy at the moment but I've never seen a too busy when I've been there.

There is a perception that pool tables attract an undesirable element according to a publican I spoke to on this previously. Not sure how true this is though. Grimes is the only pub I go to that has a table and I never see any issues here..

Becketts on Dunmore road have pool table out in smoking area now. 2 euro a game

Can you pay pool on a timer in Norris'? Is it standard pool (8 ball with red/yellow balls)

Used to spend a lot of time playing down in the pool hall by the park (long gone now) where they had one normal pool table on a timer and the rest were American pool with buckets for pockets!

No, unfortunately not. Turned into a poker/casino after that and now I assume it's long shut down.

Don't think I'd find the time to spend hours in there anymore even if it were open!
