Reported this a week ago the modding on here has really hit the ground like a scud it’s dreadful,

Eamon got a bit of a grilling today about Putin.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,959 ✭✭✭✭dulpit

That pod was embarrassing. Didn't realise it was the RT lad before I pressed play, but listened anyway. Embarrassing stuff

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,130 ✭✭✭Did you smash it

Thought it was a credible enough analysis of The Russian position- that it is sabre rattling to bring the big players to The table and there is little threat of an outright russian attempt to overthrow The Ukrainian government

I thought he gave Bryan a bit of a hard time for once.

Tomas 'The Ryan Project' Ryan scaremongering away today about schoolchildren catching Covid and, yes, Long Covid. No mention of the completely negligible statistical risk of Covid to primary school children. I suppose Long Covid is much more appealing as there's no hard data to avoid. We're all then still learning together but it certainly looks like Tomas is "long Covid" from a market perspective at least :-)

Paul Somerville was brilliant. No nonsense to the point, don’t think I’ve heard him on before

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,751 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

Good podcast with Chris Johns this morning over "Sir" Tony Blair and his role over Iraq

Eamons bias and hypocrisy on full show today in regards to golfgate.

What happened here with our political elite and with Boris in England is as bad as each other.

That pro Russian guy just engages in what aboutism for the entire podcast

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,959 ✭✭✭✭dulpit

Just listening now. I saw the title said it was about Golfgate and assumed he'd have Aoife Moore or Paul Hosford on, as it was their story that broke this. Mick Clifford instead, but that's okay - he's usually good. But it's obvious that their pals were involved here (they namechecked specifically Sean O'Rourke and Donie Cassidy on a number of occasions) and it's weird how they try to differentiate between the carry on of Golfgate and Boris (similarish times, similar issues of the "one rule for us, one rule for them" view).

Dunphy is a hypocrite all over place so dont pretend to be surprised when a hypocrite is a hypocrite

I listen to hear what the left wing loonies are spouting. But arent all left wing loonies hypoctrites just happens that one of Dunphys hypocrites regards golfgate

    Champagne socialist at his best

As for Ryan...he is some dose.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,377 ✭✭✭McGrath5

Listening to the Golfgate episode now, one of Eamon's worst. Sniggering when he said the PDs "imploded" and no "Shinner" present. Wait for the next episode with Chris Johns and he will lay into Boris for his misgivings.

Have really gone off this podcast and I used to be a regular enough listener and barely listen anymore

    "It's just not showbiz, baby"

I think he needs to mix it up a bit. Give the Tomas Ryan / Brexit / Biden endless repetition a rest or at least add something new in there to freshen it up...

I remember when he started this, it was mainly a series of 1-1 interviews with well known sports people, politicians etc, and I thought a lot of those were very good. He rarely does that now. Granted a lot of them were people he had on speed dial (Giles, Brady, Souness, etc), but I think he’s at his best when doing those extended 1-1 conversations.

We're going to have to get an update from Tomas 'The Ryan Project' Ryan soon. Surely there's a Long Covid angle that could scare people back indoors for another year Eamo.

That "data journalist" (who failed to mention data quality even once!) did not ramp up the fear levels nearly enough.

Dunphy seems to think it’s viable Russia attacks Poland nevermind ukraine. A bit fanciful

Eamo had Paul Moynagh on yesterday who in fairness has been fairly level headed in all his appearances. Tomas Ryan seems to have temporarily disappeared into the ether. Probably saving him for the appearance of the next variant.

Paul Moynagh is great. Very balanced and informative.

Yeah I listened to that one too and found it very good... quite educational actually in terms of how he explained antibodies versus T-cells in simple enough lay man terms.

Eamon tried early on to to steer him down the hysteria route re mask wearing and the speed of easing of restrictions but Moynagh kept his replies very matter-of-fact, informative and balanced.

Great podcast with Eamon McCann on his memory of Bloody Sunday and in particular the background to it, it's effect on nationalism in the North and the UK cover up/whitewash.

I'd disagree with McCann and indeed Billy Hutchinson (Dunphy's loyalist commentator) on a lot but I fine the two of them brilliant contributors

  • Registered Users Posts: 568 ✭✭✭72sheep

It's now nearly a month since Tomas Ryan last publicly petrified Eamo on the podcast. There's a risk Eamo might regain sight of his old self, and that would be a totally unacceptable state of affairs. All these Boris/FAI/Taiwan episodes are nothing more than a smokescreen, surely this type carry-on simply cannot be allowed to continue!

Come on you are Eamons booker...

We need to get used to omicron TWO to THREE times a year

    He is a dose

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,767 ✭✭✭Deeper Blue

So Tomas Ryan disagrees with Anthony Fauci (sure what would he know?) about the potential of antivirals in managing Covid going forward.

And what's Tomas' solution you may ask?

    More testing!

He also started going on about how long Covid causes memory loss. And of course just like the time he claimed covid caused autism in unborn children, he had zero evidence to back up his theory. The guy is a disgrace.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,441 ✭✭✭JoeA3

I thought he had gone away... I don't know if anyone cares anymore Tomas.

  • Registered Users Posts: 568 ✭✭✭72sheep

I know I know, just unbelievable luck. And that episode did not fail to deliver on any level either. High entertainment; it's all showbiz (baby) for Eamo's ad sales anyhow.

As said before, can you o.n.l.y imagine being acquainted with Tomas ;-)

"Omnicron isn't much less severe than Delta. If you look at the unvaccinated population about 7% need hospitalisation with Omnicron it's 2.5%."

So a factor of almost 3 Tom??

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,426 ✭✭✭lee_baby_simms

Certain types of misinformation is acceptable.

Lets not forget that in August 2020 Tomas extrapolated the worst possible numbers he could find to come up with a prediction that 104 children would die of covid as a result of schools opening the following month. He then asked Eamonn “how many children died during the troubles.”

Tomas cherry picks data and frames it in such a way based on a clear personal agenda and dresses this nonsense up as science.

Someone will surely come on and defend Tomas Ryan now "but he was right once a year and a half ago about something"

Overall Tomas Ryan is best summed up imo as a Doctor Doom wannabe who actually seemed disappointed that things didn't get as bad as he hoped.
