Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Waterford-Limerick J Proposal!

There are 4 intermediate stations on the route however you need to be realistic and take Cahir and Tip Town out because you can do nothing to encourage traffic that already drives to Limerick J today.

    Today:
Current services are 07.20 and 16.25 ex Waterford and 09.45 and 18.45 ex Limerick J with a journey time of 1h40m - Mon-Sat. There is around 10 manned LC between Clonmel and Waterford.

    Clonmel-Dublin Heuston
Train is (2h39m) morning and return (2h32m) 10.47 arrival. evening and slightly longer for Carrick.
Road is (2h) not accounting for peak traffic.

    Proposal:
    05.30 - Waterford-Clonmel - 06.10 - Empty
    06.20 - Clonmel-Waterford - 07.00 - Connection to 07.10-09.00 ex WAT

    06.45 - Limerick-Waterford - 08.50 - Connection to new 09.00 DUB service**
    09.45 - Waterford-Limerick J/Limerick 12.00 - Connection from 07.25-09.40 ex DUB

    17.20 - Waterford-Clonmel - 18.55 - Purely to protect current traffic existing 16.25 service. - Connection off 15.10 ex DUB
    18.05 - Clonmel-Waterford - 18.45

    16.00 - Limerick/Limerick J-Waterford 18.10 - Connection to 18.25-20.40 ex WAT
    19.15 - Waterford/Limerick/Limerick J - 21.20 - Connection from 16.40 ex DUB***

** - Major gap in schedule and the 07.50 tends to be quiet busy a lot of the time so a service between would be useful.
*** - This service needs to be accelerated, likely bussiest service south of Carlow and yet the worst service from a timetable terms.

In terms of gate keepers only around 2-3 hours extra shift between Waterford-Clonmel, surly a spare 2800 could be sourced in Limerick, drivers could be a problem however the line needs something like this to have any future.

Take the operational situation in Waterford overall cost wise not massive and would help boost traffic. A 6 to 12 month trail would be sufficient to see if it works or doesn't. I'm aware scheduling and sets are not worked out but you get the general point.

Line will be closed in the next 18 months. CIE don't care and never will.

Rather than rail consultants the management and unions at CIE need psychiatric counseling more than anything else.
