1999 Subaru Justy GX 1.2 - failed NCT (underbody corrosion)

    Hi there,

As the title suggests I have a Subaru Justy which mechanically was perfect with low mileage (or it seemed to be), that failed in the NCT yesterday.

There are a good few spots and a local spray quoted €1K as some of the spots are in awkward places and he tells me that the rear axial would need to come down and it still might not be possible as there isn't a lot of welding area etc.

Personally I don't think its worth it but is there anyone that would take the car for parts. Is it worth trying, its probably not worth a lot now. While its looking like a Suzuki Swift there probably isnt a lot of people looking for parts, even if I was to go into selling bits of it.

I could drive it very local for the moment (0.5 mile rural area) to family etc as a runabout..

But in time it have to go. Take the hit and not spend any more I think I am already down an exhaust last year

Lesson learned old cars in good condition are not always what they seem even if the engine is good.

You might get somebody from central/eastern europe interested in it for spares or something - saw Swift 4x4s making short work of bad conditions in the mountains of Czech Republic. Can't see it being worth repairing/insuring in Ireland.
