Corsa c not starting!

Hey, I have a 2002 1.2 sxi corsa c , bought the car in august off a friend and it lay at his house until start of December , when I arrived to collect the car the battery was flat , I put jump leads on it with a diesel merc and it started first turn no problems , I drove it 5 mins up the road and parked it at my house , I didn't go near the car for ages until I tried starting it up the other day with jump leads again etc , when I turn on my ignition all the lights on the dash are flickering and flashing on and off , in sync with either a clicking noise or a weird fuzzy static noise from the carburettor , the car turns over just fine the battery is good , but it just won't start ... I've been told it could be a bad earth some where ? Don't know if this helps but after I tried to get it going and failed I left it there and when I came home from work the number plate lights where on but the car was locked up etc , could this also point to a bad earth connection ?

When my friend owned the car the dials used to cut in and out at times while driving but with a hit of the dash they came back on and then other days it might not start for him but he'd hit the dash and it would start no problem , I've tried removing the dials and making sure all the connections are proper but still no luck ..

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I would use a known good battery from another car to test. The dash lights flickering is a good indicator the battery is weak, as it's not been in use. If it works with loaner battery great. If not then start checking spark plugs and leads for corrosion build up or missing electrodes.

You need to drive it more than 20 mins at road speed for the battery to charge up properly.
As suggested, change to a good battery.

I can't drive it as road speed as my main problem is the car not being able to start I've tried donor batteries etc still no go...

As others have said it needs more charge. From your description it sounds like you jumped it, drove up the road, and then it wouldn't start again. Correct?
to charge a flat battery with a regular  mains charger takes 4-12hrs....
you dont need to drive it to charge the battery, the alternator will charge it at idle. Connect it to the merc again, start the merc running, leave the corsa off for about 20mins to let the battery get some power. Then try start it. If its close but still no go, raise and hold the revs in the merc to about 1500, give the corsa a little gas and try again. Don't rev the balls off either of them you will do damage, especially to the merc $$$$! But if you just let the merc idle and charge your corsa it should be fine.
Disconnect the jump leads and leave it run for at least 30 mins. Give it an hour if you can. Then it should have enough juice for a return journey.
If its still not right after that, bring it to a battery specialist to check the battery and charge system. How long was it lying idle for? If it was less than a month I would query why it lost charge? Maybe the battery is dying. Was there lights on? Aftermarket alarms can can drain power sometimes. If your leaving the car idle for long periods its good to get someone to start it and let it idle for 20 mins or so once a fortnight.
Leave the headlights off during all that jump starting and charging etc. Headlights draw alot of power.
    Good luck!

Ok so the engine turns but it doesn't fire up?
This would point to the fuel system not supplying fuel to the cylinders.

You can also take plugs out and check for sparks

Can you hear the fuel pump when you turn on the ignition? It will sound like a gentle whine then a click it will only last about 3 seconds.
