    Hi all

I'm trying to copy some files from HDD to pc

Everything is USB 2.0 but the copy speed is incredibly slow

Is there anything I can do to speed it up

Pc is a 10 year old Dell running Windows 8.1 and the HDD is a 8 year old Phillips 160gb drive

How big is the file you are downloading, and define ridiculously slow.

    About 20MB in a minute

I think the files are quite large ,will need to check

Is it easy to open the enclosure of the hdd? Might be possible to remove and insert into pc

Files are large about 500 MB

Transfer speed is showing as 1MB/sec but I doubt it's even that

Check it first with HDsentinel, you might have bad sectors
