I've been to 2 gigs in the 2 arena up in the back, in the nosebleed seats. I couldn't see who was on stage. A waste of money and while it sounded pretty good, way too far away to experience the gig. Never again.

I was in Block P for Fleetwood Mac a few years ago which was high up and I could see everyone on stage perfectly

    I'm of two minds.
I saw the who play quadrophonia in there and I was almost at the very back and they had screens on stage and sides (with amazing visuals fitting the songs btw) and that was brilliant. You were engaged.

One guy on his own sitting down? Might be a challenge. But it's a challenge for ed too. It's officially the biggest indoor gig he's ever done. He's done two or three festivals outdoors that were well, outside but indoors is a different thing.

As long as people aren't yelping and shouting stupid sh!t at him it'll work out fine.
The biggest negative about ed solo shows is rabid fans constantly hollering at him for songs he isn't ever gonna play. And there's a lot of tourin Pj fans coming over for this.
If they behave it'll be grand.

You'll get a quick safe sale if you post on toutless.ie and get full price too probably.

Amsterdam is in ten days. Ed usually gets in two or three day before to kill jet lag. Ten outside that they were best mates. I agree the best thing is to play through it. Cathartic effect hopefully. Just don't think he'll do it somehow.

Even chris cornell wouldn't approve of that.surely that won't happen.

I just bought my tickets for his gig in Cork the other day so fingers crossed all going ahead.

I've never been to the Marquee, we are in the standing area.
Realistically how early would we need to be queuing to get up to the front?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 7,611 ✭✭✭david75

Chris' funeral is on Friday in LA. Eds first show is on Saturday in Amsterdam. I think if he was gonna cancel he would have by now.

Everyone in Amsterdam is afraid he might either cancel the first show there as it was an add on to the original two dates but no sign of it yet.

Same time, I can't see him missing chris' funeral. He could overnight it but he'd be in a total jocker for the gig and the first few nights maybe

First show tonight in Amsterdam and it was tasty. Ed took the vocal for two of glens songs. Song of good hope and bird of sorrow. Chris Cornell was, well he was the heart of the show.

    Intro Music: Tuolumne

    01. Long Road
    02. Trouble-(Stevens)
    03. Sometimes
    (speaks to audience in Dutch)
    04. Can’t Keep
    05. Sleeping By Myself
    06. Without You
    07. Longing To Belong (with Jonas Pap playing cello)
    08. The Needle and The Damage Done-(Young)
    09. I Am Mine
    10. Light Years
    11. Good Woman-(Marshall)
    12. Far Behind
    13. No Ceiling
    14. Guaranteed
    15. Rise
    16. I’m Open
    17. Better Man
    18. Immortality
    19. Porch

    Encore Break One

    20. I’m So Tired-(Fugazi)
    21. Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town
    22. Imagine-(Lennon)

The Red Limo String Quartet comes on stage
    23. “Heroes”-(Bowie, Eno) String Quartet and Ed vocal. (partial song) Ed adapts the lyrics at the “I, I will be king…” through “We can be Heroes” with some different lyrics and pulls lines from different sections. It only lasts 1:04 minutes/seconds.
    24. Just Breathe
    25. Lukin
    26. Song Of Good Hope-(Hansard) {Ed sings main vocal, Glen plays guitar and sings harmony}
    27. Falling Slowly-(Hansard, Irglová)-Glen sings main vocal and plays guitar. Ed sings lead on a verse and harmony vocals)
    28. The End
The Red Limo String Quartet leaves the stage

    29. Rockin’ In The Free World-(Young)
    30. Hard Sun-(Peterson) with Glen Hansard
