07 Corolla (diesel) - engine issue

Hi there, just looking for some input.

Tonight my car which has never given any trouble lost power whilst driving. Once the car stopped I restarted it and got a check engine notification and the car struggled for approx 10 - 15 seconds before cutting out again. I checked oil and belt and started it again, this time no issue and the engine lights have disappeared.

I don't assume the problem has rectified itself and fear the car cutting out on me mid journey someday soon.

I suspect either injectors, an electrical fault, bad fuel or an egr valve.

Has anyone else experienced this ?
I'll probably take it to a garage to get it properly diagnosed asap.

    Any help is much appreciated!!

Difficult to say until you get it properly diagnosed. The fault codes stored should give you a good indication of where your problem is.

Chances are, the fault (whatever it is) is causing the vehicle to go into limp mode, which is why it loses power/cuts out and then starts up again without issue.

Until codes are read it's just a guessing game.

**Update: Got a mate to read the codes, was an egr valve fault. Dismantled and cleaned it, going ok for the time being.
