It's a soundstage, not a factory. It's hardly going to create hundreds of extra cars at rush hour.

Agreed. Great news. Surely can't be as bad as when DELL were in full swing.

It's extremely bad traffic - both in the mornings and evenings. The road network in to the park (and around the various office locations) has never been upgraded despite new companies opening left, right and centre.

Without connecting directly to the motorway how do they improve it? Maybe make the Dublin road from Kilmurry lodge to Finnegans a 4 lane road.

Lots of bike and bus lanes. Give people the option to get to work other than using a car. Increasing the number of lanes on roads just leads to more people driving and is counter-productive. Possibly build a park and ride facility off the motorway, but there is no point doing this unless the bus infrastructure is put in place at the same time or before.

Possibly but if you're in a certain part of your life dropping off kids to schools and activities etc etc, that's not an option.

That's not going to solve anything - you can't cycle from Dooradoyle to Plassey (just observe the traffic coming off the M7 by Finnegans after 8am).

Ideally, there needs to be better link up to the main routes - you'd want a bypass road from the roundabout past Three, to run somewhere to a point near the Mackey R/A & Finnegans, and likewise something to circumvent UL back to the Dublin Road/Parkway area. There isn't a chance of either of those happening in the next 10 years sadly, while the population of Castletroy and the amount of employees in the area continues to increase.

Yes, of course. But if you provide the bus lanes and the safe cycle lanes, then a lot of kids, who are currently driven to school, will use these too. There will always be a certain number of cars on the road, but it needn't be anything as high as it currently is.

Not everybody is coming from Dooradoyle to go to school in Castletroy or UL or to work in the technological park. A lot of the hold up off the M7 is caused by local traffic who could cycle or bus it if the infrastructure and service was good.

I would honestly doubt that is mostly made up of local traffic. A large amount of staff in my company are from Dooradoyle/Raheen/Patrickswell etc . The DAA also relocated to an office in the park so their staff are travelling from Shannon and beyond.

That's perfectly fine but there are many who don't have this problem. Everyone doesn't have to leave the car at home and cycle but if we could just get 5-10% of the people currently in cars to switch to some other sustainable mode it would be a start and make a huge difference.

You can cycle from Raheen/Dooradoyle to Plassey. You cycle into the city and then take the bike path from the canal all the way out to plassey. It takes about 28 min

Looks like LeoD beat me to it

Cycle lanes are cool and all but what about Troy Studios?

Has anything been shot there besides Nightflyers? Is that due to be released before Christmas?

Are there any reports of upcoming productions and most importantly, how can I become a star :D ?

Only hope is that Netflix take on Season 2.

Whether people like or disliked Nightflyers, the generally consensus was the production & set was very good which Troy Studios can take a positive from.

A pity, slim chance it'll get picked up elsewhere.

As a premise, searching for life at the edge of our solar system (cosmically speaking that's like looking for life a centimetre from your front door) seemed very dated.

ya, the scyfi channel have cancelled it but no official word from netflix. Troy have broken down the sets in the last few weeks tho so that might be a good indicator that its finished.

on a side note, the quality of the production was low by certain netflix originals standards, but was very much in line with other productions from the scyfi channel. a lot of talk on other forums on boards are labeling it as a failure for Troy, but it was still a success and was rated highly by fans of the scyfi channel, even if it was panned by some critics

I didn't think there was anything wrong with the quality of production when watching it. I am not a big Sci Fi fan anyways but after trying hard for three episodes I just found it too dull to keep watching. I'm not a Sci-Fi fan though so was never going to really appeal to me anyways.

Are there any other productions taking place in Troy at the moment?

As said above, we can take solace in the fact that even though it was cancelled, it doesn't appear to have anything to do with the production value.

Might not be the exact start Troy Studios were looking for, but onward and upward.

Troy quoted as saying they are in talks with other producers. Would take it with a pinch of salt, but hopefully we might hear more from them soon

I doubt they are under any serious pressure. They have favorable lease terms and little to no debt. They will have plenty of time to find another production

nightflyers would have finished up at least 6 months anyway... so they must have other work going on

Are they not planning an extension . Doubt they are doing that speculatively tbh

There was no other work because nightflyers had used the while studio. They had even continued to occupy the whole space for storage since finishing season 1 last year.

The investment in additional stages / sound stages will allow multiple simultaneous productions.
