    Whats the name of the part/string connecting the bow string to the cables in the compound bow in this image.

    Whats it for

    Its a peep sight tube.

    Basically what it does is makes sure the peep sight rotates to face forward when the bow is drawn.

    There are other ways to achieve this which takes a bit of patience and adjustment so, no, They're useful but not especially important.

    I don't use one and many target archers dont, But a lot of Hunting setups seem to use them.
