Just reading something on another thread there. Do people use these? or are they illegal now. I only ever played with 1 lad that had one years ago.

Or a they just a gimmick? as I believe they are very similar to a 9i loft wise. I really struggle with my chipping its definitely the weakest part of my game and costs me 6/8 strokes per round more maybe.

I know with practise hopefully this will improve as had a lesson (just lacking confidence), Its just finding the time with life etc..

I see they can be picked up from new for just €40 for a wilson one, done some google searches and a lot of golfers see them as a joke/laugh cant see why if they work..

    What's fellow boardies options?

Since I got fitted for clubs in foregolf 2 years ago I dont have the pleasure of buying clubs anymore :D

I would be interested in trying one out. My concern would be that if they really were useful then we would see a lot more of them.

Used one for a while and they are OK if you are really bad at chipping.
They have lots of different versions seen one in mcguirks with a superstroke grip the other day.

I use my highest lofted utility a bit now but back chipping OK so sold the jigger.

Yeah that was my thoughts.. but a few people on the net were saying they were illegal so taught thats why you dont see them, can't see why! Then came across a Mark Crossfield review on a odyssey one and they were laughing about using them, but he could see how they could work for some people etc so I guess that ruled out them been illegal and the odyssey one came with a superstroke grip but is €179, wouldnt pay that for one!

No a club I would recommend tbh, why buy another club when the ones you have can do the same job. I would say you are better off practicing with a 7 iron and focus on not looking up till the ball is well gone.

    Practice makes perfect.

Jigger's themselves are not illegal but they are considered an iron and therefore can't have a flat on the grip so that rules out all superstroke grips and paddle grips. Also be careful when buying one as some have 2 hitting faces they are also illegal only a putter can have 2 hitting faces ie. bullseye putters.
Jigger's are also 7 iron loft and imo more useful on links where you can run the ball into greens. Saying that lots of people use them on parkland courses.

How are odyssey getting away with selling the tank chipper that comes with a superstroke grip? (its €159!)

Have you ever used one Mont? As said have only seen 1 person

Two-faced jiggers are non-compliant with the rules, iirc.....

.....mostly because they talk about you behind your back and never get their round in :D

I can kind of see the attraction of them but I've always wondered why you would give up a slot in the bag for such a specialised club, especially as you can often get the same result with a 7 or 8 iron, if you grip down the club and employ a firm putting-style stroke?

Saying that, if people feel they help, then they help.

Superstroke make iron grips as well I think. It's round any way as I picked it up

    .

Often wondered about the two faced ones, it would be handy as a left handed option. It makes sense that they are illegal, do you know that for sure?

    Appendix II, 4(d)

The clubhead must have only one striking face, except that a putter may have two such faces if their characteristics are the same, and they are opposite each other.

Yes it's for sure, you can not have any two faced club, however you may make a stroke at a ball with whichever part of the club head you wish, e.g. back of club or side of club.
