    Moving into a house in charlesland soon,

    has anyone upgraded the heating or gone down the route of Nest or Hive systems?

    Can they be installed with the standard boilers that come in the houses?

    Is the hot water on a separate circuit or do you need to have heating(includign rads) on to generate hot water?

    Thanks

    if it's the Vokera mynute 16, once the boiler is on, the water will be heating in the immersion.

    Then, if you want the rads to heat, just turn the room thermostat up passed the click or when the light comes on.

    If you want to upgrade, get a new condensing boiler. It will save you money and there are SEAI grants available. Nest and Hive are gadgets that switch your heating on and off from a smartphone. If you like playing with phone gadgets, fine......

    That's a completely unfair summarisation...

    OP, if you want more details on Nest, Hive or any other smart thermostat, you should check out the home automation forum;

    I have a Netatmo and it's brilliant. By far the best upgrade to my home since I moved in.

    I'm not in Charlesland btw...
