    Yep if precip can hold some intensity and after a very cold icy night and a northwest wind, some snow is very possible. Especially if it comes in around 4-8am

    15::40 Update from Met Eireann:
    Cold this afternoon with sunny spells and scattered heavy wintry showers of rain, hail and sleet, and above 1000 feet, snow. Isolated thunderstorms also.
    Maximum temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees in light westerly breezes.

    I've never seen them specify an altitude before, but nice to see. You'd think they'd use metric though :rolleyes:

    1000ft = 304.8m for anyone outside of Liberia, Myanmar or the USA

    15mm here so far today from the countless showers of mainly rain/sleet with hail and graupel thrown in for good measure . Mountains and hills have snow on them, getting cold now and plenty of dark clouds about.

    2.9C now with a DP of 1.0C, to freeze away from the coasts early tonight but temperatures set to rise early in the morning.

    Not much to report in Dublin city centre today but currently, the skyline to the north is showing some serious convection

    The precip band due later in the night is getting close to northern scotland now. Looks quite substantial on satellite.

    I'm guessing there's a warm sector in it?

    If it arrives before sunrise, anyone think there's a chance of freezing rain in some places if it does not snow?

    You think there will be snow? Do you think it will be widespread? Sticking? Nearly all the models don't think there will be snow away from higher ground

    Not widespread not sticking . But there will be a few showers breaking maybe producing sleet/wet snow

    Tomorrow's rain will come from a cut-off warm sector from Sunday which has reached as far north as the Faroe Islands today and will loop back down over Ireland in the form of a frontal trough.

    Sampling the airmass in Torshavn's 12Z sounding today shows it's already only showing snow for mountain tops, especially as it has another 800 km or so to travel over 9-10-degree waters until it gets here.
