Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Buying from a car lease company

    Hi,
I was just about to buy a Passat - 2014, 43K miles - and I discovered the car was owned by a car leasing company, ALD Automotive. it has full service history but not by a VW approved garage, service is by ALD. should I be concerned? would it be dangerous to presume that ALD leased to one company/driver and not multiple? it'll be Monday before I can contact them but was hoping to collect over the weekend. I suppose I'd be better off waiting for peace of mind??
    Thanks....

That would likely be Johnson and Perrot fleet if it's an Irish car.
As the car is 3 years old it'd be very likely that it was leased to a business.

Thanks, yes that's what I'm assuming. I suppose it's not much of an issue or risk than buying any car? I'd be interested to know if it was assigned to one driver rather than, say, anybody in the business could drive it. That would be more like a hire car which I would be reluctant to buy. But I'm unlikely to be able to find out who was driving it. Am I being overly cautious?

Is it an Irish car or a UK import? Any link to the car?

That's very small Mileage for a 3 year old Passat, wouldn't worry about the history if it's an ALD Passat and you can verify it hasn't been clocked - ALD are one of the UK's biggest lease companies, and one of Europe's biggest too so they have a reputation to uphold.

Lease cars are generally assigned to one driver for the lease duration but sometimes will change around if people leave or companies have a Fleet of the same type of vehicle and want to even mileage between then.
