I didnt say it was free.

I know they charge a large amount for players to play with them

Kids play for both. I personally coach kids who are in the Waterford academy, it's great that they are getting the best possible chance they can to improve themselves and then confidence from being a "Waterford" player is great to see.

To go further, what this country needs is more professional set up academies from the actual loi clubs to develop our players for the future. I have coaching badges done but not in the same class of coach as you would get at a proper academy.

One of the more bizarre things to be upset about tbh.

at under age they can play for clubs , yes.

But once they play u17 or over they cannot.
So they get the coaching, but not the amount of playing time, and a lot will end up on a bench being an 'FC' /Wexford/Treaty / CK player……

For smaller clubs , losing their better players to the lure of fancy gear and warming a bench , its not bizarre at all.

Same as the 'summer soccer' debacle…..
But shur that doesnt worry the big town clubs…………………. 😏

What a brilliant result tonight, continued where they left off. They all work their arses off for Long.

The defence was superb tonight, Darragh has been phenomenal this season.

    Any sign of Gardner?

In fairness would you show up if you got things so wrong time and time again 😁.

Enjoy good times, get on board with them, they won't be perfect but it's much better than trying to pick holes.

Keith Longs Blue and white army!

Still a lot of games to go but keep this up and we'll be on our way to Gibraltar or Kazakhstan

Some of the big town clubs voted against summer league, some of the out of town clubs voted for it.

Another great win. Nervy at the end mind.

Ah another brilliant win, the defence is in superb form.

We gave them too much respect first half and sat off them, Pats have loads of creative players and we were too deep. Keith definitely got into them at half time, played on the front foot more. Was a close game but the winner was excellent, great cross and run off the ball for the header.

Kacper was brilliant all night, he's living up to his big transfer now. Hopefully McDonald is alright, never a good sign seeing him injured.

Up Keith Longs Blue and white army!!!

on some run. need to get as close to Derry as you can as Rovers surely gonna go on a run at some point. glad to see the club adding some bodies as well, gonna be needed on the run-in. any more rumours of incomings?

Can never beat them can we? Hate playing them as they're a nightmare, the old Burnley of this division.

Very poor first half, Amond also desperately unlucky. Second half they played all the football but just didn't create anything. Injuries played a big part as well as we just didn't carry enough threat.

Made hard work of it but a 2-1 win and into the draw for the last 16 on Tuesday

Rovers been dumped out of the cup by there arch rivals Bohs. Very open cup once again

How did Cockhill do? Was it one way traffic or did they give a good account of themselves?

I watched your game against another local side Glengad Utd a few years back, and it was a very comfortable 2 nil victory.

Cockhill gave a good account of themselves and took the lead with a well taken goal. Matt Connor made a good save from a header to deny them a draw. Waterford weren't great but had made a lot of changes from their league team.

We can't have nice things down here, shows nothing between the teams on any given day

Rovers next up is a huge game in our hopes for Europe esp with Galway and Sligo playing tomorrow

I'm gutted, could do with your man who appears everytime we don't win to make me smile

Looks like that Summer break came at the wrong time, we were flying until then and it's broken momentum.

In fairness we've been punching above our weight and we're due a dodgy run of results, hopefully Keith can turn it around asap. Injuries to Sargent and McDonald are a kick as they're part of the spine that made us so good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 763 ✭✭✭Dunmoreroader

How long is Sargent going to be out for? The new keeper didn't start very well………

    Shame

Hopefully tomorrow is not the beginning of the end for our euro hopes. Rovers need the win badly too

Looking forward to a full house tonight. Should be a great atmosphere, hopefully we get a good result, M'on Blues

Need to start matches better, really dropped since the break. Second half last night wasn't bad, but first half was shocking.

Tbf Rovers were excellent last night, I know we didn't start well but they were first to everything and just basically bossed the first half. Improvement was good after half time but again Rovers just stepped it up a level to get the win, their bench is very strong.

Pattison played well. Getting McDonald and Baggley in the pitch together will be huge. Keeper was very good as well.

Yeah no arguments with any of that, just a trend of starting poorly starting to creep back in that I hope is stamped out and will be if McDonald and Baggley stay fit I think.

Asamoah not being properly replaces is a shame
