Watching on EirSports ...... except it is Waterford I would have turned it off by now.

    1-1 at half time.

we got no luck at all, good goal by hunt but annoying to concede shortly after

need to be careful in the 2nd half can see Cork getting 1 or 2 with the way our defence are playing

Whatever about lack of luck, Waterford were terrible and did not deserve to get anything out of this game.

Apparently they have lost the ability to pass the ball to a blue shirt!

Lots of work if we want to secure a top 4 finish. Derry away is a crucial game on the 17th Aug. Cup up next but we don't knw what way we will treat it ?

Enjoyable game, gave the league champions a good game, i thought didn't really trouble them apart from last 15 of second half and even at that, their defence looked solid, especially delaney lad, good player or maybe we didn't test him enough more to the point.
This is undoubtedly a tough few months for us, this is hopefully where we can pull it back in. In fairness, tonight, they never stopped.great support from fans, big turnout from cork fans made it full house, good to see.

Sligo done us a huge favour beating Derry who we play in our next league game. Tough place to go to get a result

Cup next week away to Skerries and hopefully we progress to round 2

Saw a video of Hunt stamping on a cork lads head and Hutchinson stamping on a guys heel. Then not doing ourselves any favours with players like Akinade and Aborah. We must be the most hated team in LOI right now and not for the right reasons.

Have you a link to these incidents? I've heard about them but not seen them yet.

You either don't have your finger on the pulse or you are choosing to ignore the obvious.

Haven't seen video so can't make call on it, I'd be surprised like anyone to see anything like that done deliberately, I hope it was a case of trying to skip over him and accidentally caught him, if it was on purpose, ban him for rest of season.
Our disciplinary record has been poor this season, I can only assume that is down to combination of it being the most 'physical' league in Europe, plus, players will in general take their cues from what is happening on the pitch and from management.

    Both incidents on this video:

Doesn't look good for either of them especially Hunt, that was poor.

Did Hunt box the head off someone? It has been a scrappy season for the lads and ive noticed in a few of the games that you would almost have to shoot someone to get any kind of call from the ref..

He stamped on a Cork players head, you can see it on the link someone posted a few posts ago.

Absolutely, refs need to help reduce injuries by punishing more questionable, borderline, whatever tackles. Then again, fans need to cheer better passing than crunching tackles.

In FAI cup action tomorrow away to Leinster senior league team Skerries Town. Kick off is at 3pm

Should be winning this game and really giving you cup a good lash but we have a bad history against non league teams in the cup and we need to keep concentration

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,114 ✭✭✭noby

I'd like to see a fairly full strength team out, and go and get a confidence boosting win. Give a few new players a run out, rather than a while sea of changes.

    4-1 win in the cup

Noel Hunt with a hatrick and Gavin Hoolahan also on the score sheet Was 2-1 up until the 85th Min. So not all one way traffic but nice to get the win and look forward to the draw for the last 16. Hopefully CIE Ranch at home

Derry currently 6-0 up with 37 mins gone away to non league side Blarney Utd. Should we of been doing the same against Skerries ??

Yeah good win today, as expected really. Good to see Blues back to winning ways.

Incredible score in that Derry game, finished 12-2 in the end! Rovers knocked out last night too

Draw for the last 16 of the cup takes place on RTE 2 tomorrow night on Soccer Republic

Hopefully we get a nice draw

    Drogheda United away

  • Registered Users Posts: 38,386 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Massive game tonight away to Derry

Very hard place to pick up anything and we badly need 3pts

A win for Derry will put them only 1pt behind us, Rovers face Bohs tonight and could move ahead of us into 3rd place if they win or even draw. St Pats could also creep up on us if they get a result against Cork on Sunday.

Massive win and rovers beaten too.

  • Registered Users Posts: 893 ✭✭✭Deisegodeo

Huge win tonight, 2-1 in Derry, Hutchinson and Holohan with the goals. Hopefully Blues are over the dip in form now and make a massive push for European football.

  • Registered Users Posts: 38,386 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Massive result but still need to keep the heads for the rest of the season.

Seven games left, four at home, all big games really when things are so tight but your eye gets drawn to last away game/second last match, away to rovers and very last game, home to limerick.hopefully last night will be a bit of a celebration.

Cup action 2morrow night away to first division side Drogheda United who beat Shamrock Rovers in the 1st round.

Very tough game against an improving Drogheda side with there tails up. We are also on a high after the brillent away win against Derry last weekend (although very lucky looking at the highlights)

Hoping for a win that will put us in a QF and you never know with a nice draw where it could take us

I didn't get a feeling we were lucky. We seemed to create a lot of chances in the first half. The flurry of activity in the last minute in our penalty box was chaotic. But looked like we deserved the win.

While I would still prioritise the league, the games are spaced out enough that I reckon a fairly full strength team can have a right go tomorrow night.
