What sort of prize money is available before a ball is kicked? Isn't it in the six figure range?

2018/19: preliminary round €220k, €240k first round. €260k second round. Third round €280k fourth round €300k and €3m if you qualify. These figures might change for 2019/20 but not by much.

Waterford will enter at the €240k round.

It's a curious thing when you qualify for Europe but have to wait until next summer before kicking a ball in anger.

And we will be half way through the 2019 season too

;) cause most of the leagues are in full swing ( and won’t be over till May) if you have good reporters for your match program they should be able to keep you updated on possible opponents as the various leagues progress. The LOI will be long back before some other leagues are over.

Derry weren't allowed in Europe because they walked away from debts, Power settled all debts before rebranding the club. We will be fine.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019%E2%80%9320_UEFA_Europa_League

going by this year the draw will take at the end of June with the First Qualfying games taking place the 2nd/3rd weeks of July (either Tuesday/Weds/Thurs night)

Republic Of Ireland are 39th in the Association ranking and go in for the First Qualfying round which contains 94 teams and will be seeded AFAIK (we be unseeded)

25 domestic cup winners from associations 25–49
30 domestic league runners-up from associations 18–48 (except Liechtenstein)
31 domestic league third-placed teams from associations 16–47 (except Liechtenstein)
    8 winners from preliminary round

a lot of logistic nightmares for travelling with possible games in places like Isreal, Georgia, Serbia, Bosnia etc. We could also draw teams from decent standard leagues such as Sweden, Poland, Norway and Scotland

its a great feeling to be there and no doubt Excitment will be off the charts next year

the furthest away the better! will keep the bandwagoners and some of the gob****e Blue Army Ultras away. nice trip to Kazakhstan/Armenia/Georgia/Azerbaijan would be the business. be close to 35 degrees

There would be no acting the bollocks out in those places

Hoping to make the trip and hoping for Iceland, Poland or Sweden (although we would have no chance of progression as those clubs are way ahead of us)

Icelandic teams are no great shakes and Irish teams have generally done well against them, Rovers put it up to AIK from Sweden this year as well. Wouldn’t completely write us off.

A Polish side would be a tough ask though.

Scottish side too would be tough too but handy for Travel

Prob be unseeded with a Welsh and Northern Irish team (if they actually get through the prem round) so won't get any of them

Bit unfair to call out the people bringing atmosphere to games. Don’t paint everyone with the same stick but then “gob****es” were some of the only people how continued to stick with the club through the bad times so be careful before you offend someone.

They deserve a European trip more than anyone associated with the club.

They’ve also had to put up with some very unfair treatment due to one or two guys acting up last year that was out of there control

A lot of die hard Waterford FC supporters out there who should get priority for Europe (first dibs at tickets, cheap flights/hotels etc)

I won't be able to afford a season ticket for 2019 but will hopefully go to a few games if I can

For the home Euro game I imagine season ticket holders/Block E boys etc so be looked after first, away supporters and Prob a handful go on public sale

    wtf!

    define die hard?

first dibs at tickets? tickets wont be a problem :)

cheap flights and hotels?? we do live in an age where anyone can book their own flights and hotels. should we contact all airlines and hotels and tell them to hold off letting people book until the "die hards" are booked first.:confused:

in terms of preference for tickets for the home game, it will be someway along the lines of:
    Players/Commercial Sponsors/football family etc.
    Season ticket holders
Away Fans allocation (either 5 or 10%)
    public sale of tickets.

    you do post some ****e!

    Relax boy bad day ??

Die hard fan for me is someone who supported the club through thick and thin and go too almost every game home and away

We just have to wait til the draw and see what city/country were travelling too. Could get a draw for the middle of Estonia where there might be no airport ???. I think you a few weeks after the draw to sort things out travel wise

Tickets could be hard too get if we draw a big team like Rangers, Hearts, Rosenberg, AIK, Malmo etc.

What are the chances of the game getting cancelled on Friday with this storm coming ?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 814 ✭✭✭debok

Yeh keep the bandwagoners away place was way better with crowds of 300.

Is this chap alright in the head? Wants the Block E Boys kept away from the match and yet comes out with this. Make your mind up boy.

Who knows, Derry game was played after a horrific downpour first game of the season. I'd imagine if it happens over Thursday night/ Friday morning and it's bad enough then it will be called off before the Dundalk fans leave. If it happens closer to the kick off you'd have to be more optimistic.

you should get yourself a few blue Peter badges and hand them out to the die hards.

Even better if we are in the middle of Estonia. Direct flight to Tallinn, there will be no problem with trains etc. If we draw a team in South Estonia then Riga maybe an option with a Train to the host city. with the likes of Ryanair, Wizz and Easyjet these places are handy to get to. Also, will you ring the train station in Tallinn and tell them not to allow bookings until the die hards book?:confused:

tickets will not be hard to get! if there is a decent trip involved say travelling to Georgia or Armenia you will be lucky to get between 75 and 100. if we got somewhere handy in mainland Europe you will be lucky to attract 250 to 300. Get Rangers and you may push towards 450-500.
you fail to consider Rovers, Dundalk, Cork and the likes have a bigger and better fan base than us and they don't get huge away crowds.

engage your brain before you post please.

the less scumbags you bring on tour the better. They cant even go to Cobh or Turner's Cross without getting arrested/ being refused entry or generally making complete and utter gob****es of themselves

I've been to my first away game for Waterford at St Pats this season, and I can tell you I saw none of this so called 'anarchy' that has been described. There's a great atmosphere amongst the away fans, especially when they're squeezed in together at a part of the stadium.

I've been to a lot of away games this season, and haven't seen one ounce of bother form these lads, if anything they're a great example to other clubs fans in the league.

The stewards and Gardai at the Rovers game were full of praise for the fans, as well as the UCD stewards.

If they were causing bother, it would have been dealt with by the club and supporters club, and to my knowledge they haven't had any reason to do so.
